It's almost like we need a spring practice period where we can identify who our best players are and go with them.

My question is...Milroe appx 14-17 pts better than Simpson. Because that's about the handicap that Milroe presents
With turnovers.

Even in the Texas game, he wasn't a 14-17 point handicap.

An offense that can't move the ball is more of a morale killer than the occasional turnover. We struggled mightily to move the ball against a bad team.

You're also assuming that Simpson won't turn the ball over at all with that handicap projection. I'm not saying that Simpson shouldn't be the guy, but there isn't really any evidence suggesting that he's the safer option. I mean Buchner (a guy with a noodle arm who threw 8 INTs in 83 attempts at ND with the same OC) was the guy they went with when the staff wasn't happy with Milroe's 2 picks. Doesn't exactly make me think Simpson is the solid game manager type.

Haven’t seen any improvement from any of them. Whole thing is a cluster and none of them matter, long term, imo.

I find it difficult to believe that he was dropped to 3rd on the depth chart off 1 bad game. I get it, he was really ineffective and he isn’t the guy long term most likely. But to go from 100% of the snaps to 0 was shocking.

They often say Nick talks in his press conferences to the team, and I believe it.

I gathered from coach Saban's comments yesterday evening, Jalen is not handling the competition as well as they would hope. Saban stated 'everyone has an opportunity to respond in the right way when things don't go exactly like you want them to". I believe that was directed to one player in particular.

Things are bad.

You can tell by his general comments. When it's mental errors, mistakes and penalties, he is normally furious.

After losses and wins like this, he is 'proud of the team and the way they competed... with their backs against the wall'.

I support his method of handling them. He's knows better than me what the team as a whole and individual players need to hear.

To me, the O line is WAAAAAAAAY too fat and slow. Speed rush guys (and every opposing team has several) just blow right by out tackles. It's too late to do anything about that now (them being lard a$$es) at this juncture but I'm wondering if Rees could do the following:

Line up with two TEs every play. Maybe even 3 TEs or put an extra OT out there. All I know is, our OTs on both sides of the O line are getting destroyed play after play.

Roll the pocket with the QB. Yes, this cuts the field basically in half but mother of God, if it'll buy another second or two for whoever the QB is to find a guy, it might be worth it.

Emphasize hot routes and pound it into Milroe or Simpson's head that they absolutely MUST quickly get rid of the ball (2 seconds).

Rees needs to do his job and start earning his pay. Needs to start showing why he was considered some kind of wunderkind pre-season. So far, he's shown me NOTHING.

Failure to do something drastic with this O line and/or change strategy pretty much guarantees Bama loses 4-5 more games. I hope I'm wrong and would love to be wrong but I don't think so.

Put the QB under center! It boggles my mind that not a single OC - college or pro - understands that putting your QB deep in the shotgun flattens out the angle for the speed rushers on the edge and makes it much tougher for your OTs.

Yeah, that’s been my feelings as well. I don’t think Saturday’s situation was based solely on what’s happened on the field.

You are implying that I am wearing rose colored glasses because I think that Simpson is that much worse than Milroe? That's not sunshine pumping, brother. I don't think that Milroe is all that good. I am speaking to how bad I think that Simpson must be.

I was told that Milroe took the 1st unit's snaps on Monday, but didn't take any for the rest of the week....

Josh Pate said he though Milroe was suspended, and believes he starts against Ole Miss.

Would not surprise me

when they find out they’re not getting drafted.

The draft is based almost entirely on the combine. Anthony Richardson was just selected fourth overall with a career completion percentage barely above 50% and 24 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. You're kidding yourself if you think they put much thought into college results. If Milroe looked the same as he did against Texas in every game left on the schedule, I expect he would still get drafted in the first three rounds based on speed, size, and arm strength.

Milroe was definitely kept out of the game on purpose, IMO. Saban hinted at that. Also he probably wanted to give both the backups enough of a live chance to show their current level of competence.
Otherwise we would have seen Milroe when Simpson started struggling wit several drives.

Yeah. He wasn't "suspended", but Saban went into the game knowing that Milroe wasn't going to play for a myriad of reasons. Wanting to evaluate all QBs, teach Milroe a lesson, etc. As bad as we looked during that game, we were never going to lose so Saban never had to panic and put him in.

According to Gmac and Cublic, he got a little upset about the other two getting practice reps with the first string early last week.
So, I guess is attitude got him benched, but he was a good guy during the game and supported the other two, so he is back to first string. So, he wasnt suspended, just benched.
