It's incredible how bad he's been considering all the talent he inherited. All things considered, this is probably the least impressive coaching tenure since Ears Whitworth. The program is headed towards disaster.

People forget how much the culture and effort had changed in Saban’s last few years. A kinder, gentler Saban had adjusted to the NIL era the best he could, but it was obvious things wouldn’t be the same.

Recruiting highly ranked egos who could transfer without penalty at any moment all while making millions of dollars was no longer compatible with the process.

Deboer might not be the guy, but he is still dealing with many of those egos. He will get 2 years to bring in what he needs via recruiting or portal. After that, if the product on the field still looks this listless, his seat will definitely get warm.

We still didn’t lose to Vandy, Oklahoma, and any season openers. It may have went downhill some in Saban’s final years but it was nowhere near the level of putrid rotting garbage culture we have now.

People got mad at me for pointing out that he was traveling to see his daughter play random UW softball games instead of attending some big basketball games earlier this year. There was a point to that criticism. He doesn’t have his heart into this job like it should be. Either that’s by choice or that’s his nature but it’s showing up in our style of play. Our team has no fire or juice.

It’s a matter of time before he is eventually fired. He’s shown nothing outside of the 1st half of UGA to show us he’s cut out for this job.

Even worse.

Saban was 124-4 against unranked teams at Alabama. DeBoer is 6-4.

Only took DeBoer one season and a game to tie the amount of unranked losses Saban had in 16 seasons.

ETA: Stat came from ESPN but it can’t be right. We were 9-4 last year and today wasn’t at home. Don’t know how they got DeBoer is 6-4 at home.

We can say it went downhill at the end under Saban and yet he had the team at 12-1, SEC champs and one play from tying up the eventual national champs in the playoffs in his last game.

But we were about one play away from losing to a trash Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M team with the greatest coach of all time at the helm... the cracks were there and now the dam has exploded.

He was a fine hire at the time.

Yea I’m flabbergasted. Guy looked to have consistently outcoached Sark and Lanning with less talent

But the last 10 or so games we have seemed horribly coached

Seems like he came here only to collect an absurdly stupid check.

Can someone tell me what area of coaching DeBoer is elite at? Is he a great strategist? Is he a master motivator? Is he a great organization guy? Whatever he is, I’m not seeing it.

Outside of that record at UW, I don’t see anything that tells me he’s elite. His temperament is Shula-esque and the product on the field shows me that we don’t have some sort of schematic advantage.

Never really wanted Dabo but at least dude is coaching on the sidelines instead of standing there like a spectator

That’s the thing, if DeBoer showed some passion or energy on the sideline, I’d be a lot more forgiving.

Insanely good head coaching record, consistently good offenses and QB play, elevated every place he went to

I thought worst case scenario would be that we’d constantly be 9-3. Never imagined it’d be this bad

This is more on Vegas knowing that bettors still value tbe Tide for no real reason .
Vegas will adjust and Bamas days of being 2 TD+ favorites will fade quickly

DeBoer took a UW program that was 4-8 the year before to 12-2 and 14-1 in back to back years. He was a good hire at the time, many people’s first choice. Obviously, it was a huge mistake and he’s ruining the program.

There can’t be any screaming maniacs on the sideline in the NIL/ transfer portal era. Even Saban realized that and toned it down. Fans who want that in a coach are wasting their time.

But you cannot succeed in this conference if you’re not emotionally involved and invested in what’s going on out on the field, and I ain’t seeing that in DeBoer.
