DeBoer didn’t even understand the question in the press conference

I was out of town after the game, so I’m catching up on post game press conferences. This is way worse than I thought.

Not only did Bernard say the coaches never told him to get down after getting the first down, but DeBoer was asked twice about the play (the 2nd time because he didn’t understand what was being asked the first time) and never answered the question, as if he still was completely clueless as to what happened. He thought the questions were about the final interception.

He didn’t address it in Monday’s press conference either. I still don’t think DeBoer understands that he is solely responsible for SC getting those last 2 possessions. Totally clueless about his lack of situational awareness. This really isn’t a good look at all.

Let’s just buy one of the Telsa robots with “College football coach” AI software and let it loose. I doubt anyone would notice.

Is there an issue with Bernard scoring? Given our ability to shoot our selves in the foot... I'm taking that guaranteed TD 100 out 100x and let the chips fall where they may

My question in coaching is going guy two with 10 min. So many variables than just going up 3. Had Bama kicked the PAT then they are up 9 and that last two attempt is moot

I didn't really like it. Saban made the same decision against LSU in 2022. Very costly in both cases.

You would rather go up 8 points and give the ball back to the other team with about 2 minutes left than take 3 knees in victory formation? Guess you, DeBoer, and Mario Cristobal have similar end of game management strategies.

Cristobal lost the GT game he had won last year, DeBoer almost did the SC game this year, and I guess you will someday if you coach little league or middle school football.

I prefer victory formation 100 times out of 100. I’m disappointed no one told Bernard in the huddle that if you get the first, get down because the game is over. I’m completely dismayed that DeBoer is so clueless about it, that he can’t understand what’s being asked in a press conference after it being brought up 2 separate times. For a coach making 10mil per year, that’s just basic end of game management strategies.

And if he had told Bernard not to score and Bama had fumbled, youd still be here to complain about it

Complaining about a fumbled victory formation? Sure, absolutely would complain if we can’t execute taking a knee! That’s Pee Wee football stuff.

But would never say we should increase the odds of the other team winning due to the risk of not executing taking a knee. That’s idiocy and seems a bit intellectually dishonest of you to even suggest it.

Yes. I was yelling “go down” as it happened. He goes down, we kneel three times, the game is over. Carolina was out of timeouts. Only way we lose is scoring there and giving them the ball back, and we damn sure tried to lose it after that.

With Jalen under center it’s possible, but I’d rather do the victory formation than anything else every game.

Not sure if you meant under center or just QB, but most teams who use shotgun also use it for victory formation.

IMO, shotgun victory formation is actually safer as the QB is flanked by RBs and has a WR deep behind him. That’s 4 people that can recover a fumble or bad snap with 5-7 yards between them and the nearest defender. If you fumble under center, it often gets kicked and the DL is right there to grab it (think Milroe did that once when under center on a goal line play last year, and we essentially haven’t put him under center since then).

Even we can't frick up 3 kneels in victory formation.

Bump…this moment during the USCe press conference was when I knew we were in trouble.

I expected us to struggle in the Vandy game last year after the big emotional UGA win and Vandy having 2 weeks to prepare, but I didn’t think we’d lose it. However, the USCe game was a travesty of coaching blunders, and DeBoer didn’t even know he did it. Couldn’t understand that he should have told the WRs that if they get the 1st down, fall down. We take 3 knees and go home.

He also said in the press conference that the worst thing he thought could happen at the end of the first half was an incomplete pass. Well, we threw a pick that was ran back like 30 yards and gave them 3 points. Almost all coaches would have taken a knee or just handed it off to end the half. DeBoer just doesn’t get it.
