We are talking about two different points of the game. I’m referring to the end of the half sequence where we came dangerously close to having a safety.

Right, sorry about that.
I heard about that but didn’t see it

EDIT: I do know that Grubb stinks. It’s like he goes into every game thinking " we have to run the ball" then by the 2nd drive hes already forgotten that was the gameplan.

Offensive coordinators call plays based on defensive schematic looks and personnel mismatches.

Defenses don’t respect our run game so they’re giving looks with safeties back so he has to try to run on those plays but it isn’t working because of our OL.

Now because Ty is hurt he’s lost the one thing he could call consistently that being intermediate passes so to compound matters defenses are now sending blitzes and Ty isn’t reading, adjusting and delivering accurately.

It’s a really bad situation but the reality is we just aren’t very good offensively as far as having things we can do consistently at the moment so against these elite defenses it creates bad outcomes.

That’s not coaching, our personnel isn’t very good and it starts at OL but is compounded because our QB who is very good healthy and confident is barely able to be on the field from the looks of it.

My concern is will any of this stuff get fixed next year? If so, how?

Ty will be back. That’s not particularly encouraging at the moment.

What’s going to make our offensive line better? It should have been good this year and it wasn’t.

We’ll still have little experience at running back other than Hill.

At receiver you lose Bernard and probably Horton. On paper we have a lot of talent there, but they have a lot to prove.

I’m sorry, but it’s just hard to be optimistic right now.

Are we sure about this? He had a nice little run in September but that’s it. The guy couldn’t beat out Milroe for 2-3 years. I think there’s a good chance that stretch of Sept to early Oct was an anomaly.

1- Ty cannot come back. That's just reality. In today's play for pay world, you thank him for trying and move on.
He can't say he didn't get his shot by staying.

2- New OL coach and hit the portal hard there.

3- New ST coach. ST have never been worse.

The coach has to make the decision to do that. I’m not sure DeBoer will.

Agreed on hitting the portal hard there. I’m not sure DeBoer will make the move at OL coach even though he 100% should.

Yes. We saw it. There’s a reason why experts were losing their minds watching that film.

That’s possible, but most would call that a ceiling which is 1st rd NFL draft pick.

What is going on currently is impossible for us to know for sure because we don’t know his medical condition fully and we don’t see him on the practice field to know what’s wrong with his touch.

But the windows he was hitting for weeks consistently were NFL windows.

It doesn’t change the current reality of what we are and what might need to happen, but to pretend we didn’t see it or know it’s possible is as delusional as it is to pretend we/he are still operating at that level and don’t need to consider changes.

We are a pure passing team if we are anything this year offensively. We cannot do that at a winning level with this combination of skill players and OL.

Logically if we can’t fix the OL and our only option at RB is Hill who melted down himself Saturday, the only card that can be played is fixing or changing what we’re doing at QB.

I can’t imagine he’s playing as poorly in practice as he is in games, otherwise I don’t see how the coaches could trot him out there on Saturdays. I still think his issues are mental and I just don’t see how they can be fixed before our next game (whether it’s the CFP or a bowl).

But regardless, we’re not going to win another game this year if he doesn’t improve because KDB seems unwilling to entertain a change at QB.

Again:

OL is so bad by Bama standards.

RBs are beyond pedestrian, nothing dynamic at all.

Too many drops and missed throws.

If you can’t run the ball in the SEC then this is your ceiling. Too many good coaches with the talent to make you pay. Ty has some growing up to do this offseason. But the OL and Grubb have done him almost no favors these last few months.

Ty sort of locked in on Germie in the fourth quarter. He stared him down in every critical pass play. He just isn't seeing the field anymore. Part of it is the pressure he is seeing obviously. But he isn't quick to get rid of it and he never throws guys open

Just like last year though. Ty will move on and we will see another QB for us to complain about.

JMO but Kalen is so similar to the Bill Curry years. Both were great people and good coaches but not Great. Both tend to try and outsmart the competition and when that fails, then you're in big trouble. Homer Smith was super smart as the OC, but Dye ate his lunch.

You would think an upgrade at OL coach and Special Teams would be the 1st task once the season is over.

New receiver coach is definitely happening,

RB coach might get to stay just due the signing if the kid from Jackson but based on the RB performance he should be replaced as well.

Year 3 will bring full sunlight to Kalen. Problem if he fails, you're holding a note of near 40 million.

Good stuff. My concern is the offensive scheme. It does not really rely on a strong and punishing run game. As such, the whole game Georgia was pinning their ears back like it was a late game must pass situation for us. Great game plan, because we pretty much have to pass. That's something teams have figured out. Bend but don't break is a great defensive scheme against us too. We are stalling out in the red zone because we can't run power. (The old Venables scheme in the championship game against Tua).

Hopefully, CKD recognises that we are going to have to have a good power run scheme and makes some adjustments.

Lack of a run game was a killer this year.

Of course he does. Ty had 2 security blankets this year: #5 or #80 was going to be open almost every play and they catch anything near them. His other options were #2 that gets open but it’s a coin flip whether he catches a perfect throw or not, Brooks, who always seems to have the ball just off his fingertips or Jam/Hill out the backfield. Jam may or may not catch it, and if he does, he’s going to dance his way to 2 yards. Hill was reliable when he was a situational player that played sparingly on 3rd down. He would usually catch it and rumble for a good gain. But as his usage rose, his productivity fell so now he’s developed the drops and gets stopped for a short gain when he does catch it. So Ty is left to find #5 since #80 is on the sidelines watching. He locks in on Germie as soon as the ball is snapped because he’s the only receiver he has any faith in to get open, catch the ball, and make a play. We are going to miss the hell out of both Germie and Cuevas next year.
All these drops besides Williams who just has bad hands shows a lack of confidence in their QB. They aren’t sure he’s delivering the ball on time and on target so that they don’t get decapitated or picked off by a late throw or a slightly off target throw that puts them at risk for a decleater.
