I'm not saying we are rationalizing our win over FSU based on the opening game and Francois' performance.

We ARE rationalizing our win in saying FSU wouldn't have a losing record if Francois hadn't gotten hurt.

They'd be a much better team if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Clemson probably would have won going away tonight if Bryant wasn't injured last week and subsequently concussed tonight.

Kelly Bryant is a junior. Both his backups are freshman. The guy who came in for Bryant last week didn't play tonight, I don't know why.

I don't think Dabo will want to deal with the expectations and pressure of being at Bama. Even if he were to do exceptionally well at Bama, he realistically would still probably at best be the third best Tide coach ever. But at Clemson he has created his own legacy and is already the greatest coach they've ever had.

The margin for error is much higher for him at Clemson and he's not having to fill anybody's shoes.

That was a terrible loss. Syracuse had no business being up on Clemson all half with their starting Qb in there. His playing would have improved their chances but certainly wouldnt have guaranteed them. They have looked beatable all year long. I just didnt think a shitty Syracuse team would be able to do it. They should have been able to just run the ball and play defense if they are truly a top 5 team. Which they arent.

It feels edgy to rag on Clemson, but they lost to Pitt last year and beat us. They run the ball pretty effectively. The mistake was starting an injured Qb and game planning around him being there. He got the most reps in practice this week. Clemson fans are pretty upset over this. If anything this should highlight the value in having a player like Tua as a backup.

Dabo Swinney would turn us down if Saban left next year.

The scary ones are the ones to Pitf and Syracuse and the like. That’s the SEC equivalent of losing to Kentucky or Missouri.

Pitt last year was a pretty good team. They also beat a very good Penn State team. They were certainly better than a typical SEC East bottom feeder. Syracuse is a bad loss, but Clemson had a banged up QB who they then lost for the entire game.

Bryant was banged up coming into the game though. You could tell his ankle was bothering him when he was playing.

When? They'd beaten every team except Auburn by double digits until last night. Their schedule has been pretty hard as well.

I don’t see a better option out there than Dabo. I like the guy. I think he’s a good person. I think he’s the obvious choice if he takes it. It’s just that if he does, Bama fans need to get ready for that one game every year against a Mississippi State or Arkansas where we don’t show up, we sleepwalk through the game and allow them to inexplicably beat a vastly superior Bama squad. It’s in his DNA.

I find it rather telling that he really came into his own as a coach on Tommy Bowden’s staff who was also notorious for playing up or down to their opponents level. And Bowden was on Curry’s staff who did it as well. It’s a learned behavior and I wish he would figure out how to overcome it.

IMO they haven’t looked great this year. Good team
Not great. And you’re kidding about a hard schedule right ?

Not at all. Virginia Tech and Auburn are very good teams. Louisville and Wake Forest are solid. The ACC is a much better conference top to bottom than the SEC right now.

If you call Clemson's schedule easy, what do you say about ours so far? Florida State and TAMU are the only respectable teams we've played and that's under the assumption FSU would be much better with Francois.

I think the ACC has some descent teams, but Clemson is the best of the bunch and it wasn’t close when Bryant was the QB. I think our schedule isn’t that great either especially since a few teams fell apart. Wake Forrest is a joke, I’d say Miami, Clemson, and NCST are your better teams. So kind of like the SEC 3 better than the rest teams.

I mean, Saban's teams lose games they shouldn't too. He's had one undefeated season, and that team just barely scraped by several teams. Then there are games where they win, but play down to the level of their opposition. Even the best coaches, players, and teams have some off games.

They beat 3 top 15 teams in September, I don't think that's ever happened before. And yeah those teams aren't all top 15 now, because they lost to Clemson and moved down. Louisville went on to lose to NC State, but NC State is good.

They destroyed Louisville and beat VaTech by double digits. Both were road games.

The only team that has looked better is Bama, and we just had trouble with A&M last week. Which happens, teams don't show up and play down to their opponent. Happens to us a couple of times most seasons, happened to Clemson yesterday.

I’m surprised most of the rant thinks it’s the rank at the end of the season. I do think fsu was top 10 before DF went out.

FSU is a lot like LSU. NFL talent all over the field, but miss Qb play and leadership.

Dabo went into Syracuses locker room after they won and told them congrats. That's world class folks.

Wow yeah, I didn’t know that. He is a good dude there is no doubt about it. Tough loss, especially if Bryant is out.

I don't care that he lost. For me he should be our only option.

One game isn't going to change that and if it did we need to get our heads checked.

Dabo loves him some Tide. I bet he cried in remorse last year.
