He’s made more out of touch comments today how clemson is getting no respect nor the acc. Is the guy trying to get everyone to figure out his good ole boy persona is fake? Fine by me but I just don’t understand how he doesn’t realize the criticism is justified. Nobody said they aren’t elite. The only reason they dropped in the rankings is a poor performance vs a bad team. Justified. And since then there’s been absolutely no reason to put them above either Ohio state or LSU. Yet here he is constantly whining and showing how disconnected he actually is.

He's talking to his players, not the media. Keeping that edge.

It's all a ploy. He's going to go into the playoffs telling his guys nobody respects them, thinks they suck. He's playing mental games with them to whip them into a frenzy come game time. They are probably the most dangerous team in the playoffs because everyone is overlooking them yet they have as much or more talent than anyone and are well rested.

Maybe but he’s also banging his hand on the table that Lawrence should be a Heisman finalist which is an absolute joke. I get supporting your guys but have a little perspective

He sounds like a fool. Look, it's hard to argue with his success and when push comes to shove if he was a candidate after Saban for the Alabama job, I could probably get on board. BUT I have never been a huge fan of him as HC. I have serious doubts his shtick would work at Alabama or in the SEC in general. But if he could keep the recruiting pipeline flowing and bring in elite coordinators, then yaba daba doo I guess.

Glad to see other people start to come around and realize that Dabo is a clown and should not be at Bama.

This is right out of the Saban playbook.

For my money he’s probably got the best team in the country at the moment. He’s preaching to his team in private that they’re getting no respect. They’re still new enough at this that it carries weight. I’m sure Dabo would prefer to be the 1 seed, but I’m sure he’s giddy at being the 3seed because it justifies what he’s been preaching to his team. That’s a very dangerous football team and there won’t be a team more motivated than them. It’s a perfect storm really. We’ve seen the “you haven’t played anybody” argument for years. The quality of your opponents has nothing to do with the quality of your own football team. You can only line up and beat the guys in front of you.

Yea they are very good and, per usual, seem to be playing their best ball at the right time of year.

Their schedule is a disgrace. There is a reason they are catching shite in the press. I would like to see Clemson run through an SEC gauntlet this year. Of course they are peaking and playing their best ball. They haven't played anyone besides Aggie.

They aren't even really catching shite either. People are just basically saying "Clemson is really damn good but they haven't played anyone with a pulse".

I mean I get that Dabo is trying to rile his team and his fanbase up but there's not even an argument against what people are saying. Their schedule is awful. It is what it is.

Saban has done this so many times when we play the western state Carolina of the blind. He talks them up, gets mad at the media for down playing them. When we all know our scout team could win by 30. It’s all mental and a page out of Saban’s book. Make your team feel disrespected.. say it enough that they believe it. I remember recently Greg Mac said Saban was the best at this.. he had the team believing that north Texas could beat them. It’s all mental

If Clemson is matched up against OSU, Dabo better pull out all the stops to fire his team up.

The thing is that the only schools in the ACC who have the potential to field a team as talented as Clemson are the two smoldering dumpster fires in Tallahassee and Coral Gables. No one else can even come close either. If FSU fricks up their next coaching hire and Miami's administration continues to hamstring the football program at every turn I could see Clemson reeling off a 50+ game conference winning streak.

Personally, I don't care about a Bama coach's (or in this case, potential coach's) shtick working "in the SEC in general," but I'm genuinely curious about what you mean about it not working at Bama; what, specifically, would not work at Bama? He's from Alabama, played at Alabama, has shown that he can beat SEC teams regularly, and is a proven winner...

I think he's doing what Saban does -- using his comments to the media to motivate his team (or at least saying the same thing to the media as he says, with motivation as the goal, to his team).

He constantly plays the "disrespect" card, without actually calling it that. That wouldn't really work here.

He seems to thrive on playing up the happy go lucky, let's have a good time, underdog role. That seems like oil and water with a program like Alabama.

Look I'm sure that if he wanted to come to Bama after Saban I'd get on board because there just aren't many proven commodities out there. I'm going to need him to bring Venables with him though.

Who knows, maybe a guy like Dabo (different style than Saban) would be just what is needed after Saban rather than trying to find someone Saban-like who will most likely just be a subpar copy.
