If a 3 loss Bama team got in over BYU the world would burn
I mean BYU is going to have 2 losses in that scenario, so not really.
If BYU ends up with 1 loss then they won the Big XII and are automatically in.

The latter part is the nightmare scenario. Hopefully TTU will take care of business. And hopefully we can beat Georgia. Tall order, but it’s possible.

Easy to say this but they kept Bama out in favor of SMU last year. How much money did they lose by having a first round matchup of SMU vs Penn State instead of Bama vs Penn State? That decision probably cost them millions in viewership for that game.
From a single game ratings standpoint you're correct.
I'd argue that they might've sacrificed that game to avoid potentially blowing the lid off the antiquated championship game format and endangering all of the contracts moving forward.

I'm confident in TTU because last time BYU struggled mightily with their defense. TTU has as good of a defensive front as any in the nation. I think they're simply too much for the Big 12. They lost one game with their backup QB against Arizona State when ASU still had their QB...and even then TTU made a great comeback to take the lead late but Levitt had a clutch GWing drive for ASU. TTU is probably undefeated if Morton played all their games.
Texas Tech is my dark horse for the tournament too. I think people assume they will get exposed when they play a Big Ten or SEC team but I'm not so sure. They've got a veteran QB who has played a lot of snaps in college. Two productive backs and a very balanced spread of targets amongst 3 WRs, 1 TE, and aforementioned 2 RBs. The defense is really good at creating pressure and negative plays.
If we need TTU to win to secure our position in the field regardless of SECCG outcome then we ought to feel pretty damn good.

TT is a damn good team. They absolutely skull Dragged WV this week. It was bad.

The current narrative is that Notre Dame is on fire while Alabama is sputtering offensively. Well, no shite.

Yea, utter nonsense. They played 3 of the 5 worst P4 teams in the country in BC, Syracuse and Stanford. Played Navy without their starting QB.

And yet this committee has them ahead of us.

Basically, with the regular season completed, we now have full resume's for all teams sans conference championship games which should be viewed almost separately
Comparing Bama's full resume to that of Notre Dame's after a settled field of results, Bama's is better.
Full stop.
For this reason, Bama will jump Notre Dame as somewhat of a "course correction" from the previous mistake of keeping ND ahead of Bama. Vegas knows this, which is why they are placing significantly better odds for Bama than ND

Pretty sure Sankey put out the word that the conference was not going to put up with a repeat of last year.

No different than the things the ACC was back channeling that got a weak arse SMU team that schedule merchant'd their way into the ACCCG.
Honestly, I think whenever it finally happens (a CCG participant in a major conference getting left out) that it will be a net positive for the sport in the long run. The CCG week can be cleared out for the 1st round of a 16 team playoff. The semis are over by the Saturday before Christmas. Championship game is played by Jan 1 or 2.
