I actually really like this.
Coach wasn’t just the best at winning he actually made a lot of sense in policy and was transparent about it. Give it a shot.

Hey hate to be Debbie downer but what kind of authority are they actually going to have. Might be all talk and no action there’s no authority granted to the committee

They're going to advise the president. That's how this works. It's an advisory committee.

The highest courts are packed with judges that will do what the President says. If these lawsuits start getting shot down/challenged then there will be some sort of shift.
I think Saban has mentioned that he’d like revenue sharing and contracts. What will be hard to control is how to keep boosters away. How do you control a booster offering an additional $4 million a year for “autograph signing appearances”? Now that the genie has been fully out of the bottle for years will schools or the ncaa be able to reign in boosters who have bought their school back to glory?
Might have a lot of Joe Johnson/Timberwolves type situations going on very soon.

It’s about time the NCAA got some dog walking from the law. It’s an absolute shame that they’ve held a monopoly on the sport for so long as a private entity that everyone just accepts because it just works.
frick the NCAA. Give us the NSAA. Nick Saban Athletic Association.

To be fair, the NCAA only exists because the member schools allow it to exist. They could have formed a different entity at any point.

Is this sarcasm? Because if so, kudos that is funny. If not, I recommend googling Federal Judge James Boasberg

the House v. NCAA settlement, which involves a $2.8 billion payout to college athletes and a revenue-sharing agreement, is also related to cases that have reached the Supreme Court level, although it is currently being reviewed by a judge
This is going to reach Supreme Court levels very likely. 6 out of 9 are Republicans appointed.

Roberts and Barrett have been anything but trustworthy as Justices since they've been appointed. It's not a super majority as many think there is. But I don't want to turn this politically. I will respectfully say you are probably right that if this does go to the Supreme Court it may pass.

All I know is, something has got to be done. I mean, it's completely and totally out of control. And it's getting worse and worse. Now, what the answer is, who knows but there has got to be some kind of structure.

It's not even that bad. It could be monumentally worse than what it is now, which is likely if it ever gets to a court and is ruled the way it should be
Short of legislation this thing will blow up like a nuclear bomb. An employee ruling would gut college athletics and Olympic development internationally.

It's the wild West right now. There are virtually no rules, anything goes. It's pretty fricking bad. Something has to change soon, but states like Tennessee arent helping. I don't know what the answer is, but there need to be some rules put in place ASAP.

Probably end up with a Federal Regulatory Body enforcing rules enacted by congress. If this happens I hope they do a better job than the ones regulating the banking and insurance industries. Banks and Insurance love to be regulated on their way to the bank. College athletics is much smaller than those two industries, so there is a possibility it will not be as corrupt.
