Sam is a real great guy. Worked out with him some way back when.

My son toured the CoE and really liked it at UA. Unless someone else makes an offer he can't refuse he's going there.

There are a few programs there like civil and chemical that are really reputable and have good faculty. The facilities are only going to get better and by what I’ve heard they are making a big push to get class sizes down by hiring more tenure track faculty and instructors.

I went to Bama for a year while I was waiting on DEP and my ship date but finished my degree at the Colorado School of Mines. Both fine schools. The relationships schools have with potential employers is sometimes as important where your degree is from.

The sign stealing in investigation hasn't been concluded yet, and sanctions from it.

I’d be surprised if that goes anywhere other than administrative and staff punishment. Hell, someone will probably sue about how the NCAA is limiting their NIL by taking away Michigan’s scholarships or postseason participation anyway.

Don’t forget: solid, reliable, good hands, faster than he looks (I keep forgetting, is it his big ears or big nose that makes one think he is likely slow), a real throwback.

This kid is the real deal. I mentioned this before. He played my nephew in the semi finals of the state championship, and in the state championship the year before. He is tall, and when you see him in person you think, “just a reliable white kid” negative. He can absolutely burn. At some point in the game last year, it just became, throw the ball as far as you can and let him run past everyone. The guy That was covering him? A national All American sprinter. Cabell ran past him all night. I sent this to my nephew who is also a D1 recruit, he said, “I’ve played with, and camped with some of the best players in the country, and Owen is the perfect example of how little those stars mean.”

Watching these tweets, he really does look like Mike Evans out there v. HS competition. Mike Evans was a 3-star out of high school too for whatever it is worth. When I said he had a sneaky extra gear, I wasn't making a white guy joke. Mike Evans has that same attribute. Evans sometimes lulls a corner to sleep early in the route then hits the kick down pedal. Cabell did that a few times in the clips I watched.

This is what I think we need to be talking about when nabbing a 3-star. It ain't about the money. This staff has a specific group of body types they're looking for at the 3 "starter" WR positions. They want their X receiver to be a prototypical big, strong, deep threats. There is value in the power conference caliber prospects who fit that role to this staff. If they're a national 3-star, so be it, they fit the scheme.

I tried to be so ridiculous that the fact my post was tongue-in-cheek would be obvious.

Some announcers still think that Zow was the running QB and Watts was the passer, i.e., it’s not just Southerners.

I’d argue far more important along with alumni loyalty.

Like them or not A&M looks out for their own and it opens up all the major markets in Texas for example.

Bama alums and career services needs to step it up that way. For years I tried to get them to work with me to bring in and place juniors with internships and seniors with jobs and at the time they were pretty indifferent (these were close to 6 figure jobs entry level).

Not at all surprised by this. I'm an alum (BA and MA) and love all things Alabama. I feel like there is sometimes a reluctance to adapt/change at large institutions and that has at times been the case at UA. Hopefully, this too will change.

In fairness one or two departments were proactively outstanding, my comment was just related to my actual career services POC who seemed like they were straight out of the DMV.

And this was ~10 years ago so it could've improved since then, it was just disappointing because I was really wanting to give some Bama undergrads a shot from outside of the market I was hiring in.
