Fans will always find a way to rationalize or excuse losses. If Bama doesn't win it all in 2024, it will be because other school poached some of our best players. And if the Tide prevails, it will be because we got the "best center in the country" from Washington.

Upgrading to a "best in the country" at any position sounds like a game changer to me, especially when the previous player was one of the worst in the country.

better coaching than Alabama did
It obviously didn't happen a lot but in comparison to the earlier Saban teams there was quite a few games over the last few years in which Bama was out coached and/or look more ill-prepared and undisciplined. Bama still was a top 3-5 team despite that but that was probably more so due to overall raw talent (Young, Jameson, Anderson, Turner, etc.) to make up for the coaching.

Was he one of the worst-blocking centers in the country, or do you just insist on blaming 90% of 2023 on the bad snaps?

Are we now going to pretend he didn't get consistently run over by even the most slightly above average Dlinemen he faced?

Anyone with a semi functioning brain could see the dude was terrible.

Mclaughlin's inability to consistently snap a football correctly almost cost Bama several more games last year, most notably the Iron Bowl.
Some people's willingness to embrace revisionist history even after living through the reality themselves is fascinating. All of a sudden he wasn't as bad as we all remember.

According to Teague and Alfie Solomans, the bad snaps were just one big scapegoat in favor of Milroe, and wasn't nearly as detrimental as everyone saw with their own two eyeballs.

I don't know if it was the coaching, we schemed around the passing failure pretty well.
The fact we couldn't throw the ball except for in the flats was our undoing, and that wasn't due to lack of open guys

It’s Solomons not Solomans.
Also, what the frick are you talking about? I’ve never had a single positive thing to say about Seth. He sucked, I’ve always maintained that, and I’m glad he moved on. He was a big factor in the playoff loss last year, killing drives to bookend the second half. I do think we should all be watching to see if he has the same problem this season. If he doesn’t that probably means we asked him to do to much.
However, if you go back and look at the entire season, you know the one we all lived through, I think you will find that Milroe made plenty of errors on plays that both did and did not include a bad snap.
Blaming all his issues on bad snaps is just as much revisionist history as saying the snaps didn’t affect him.

I haven't seen anyone go as far as to blame all of Milroe's mistakes on the center.
But to be fair, having to adjust to a garbage snap that could be going any number of directions except where it's supposed to be would throw any QB off. I don't care how good they are.

You are blaming all the mistakes of the entire team, offense and defense on bad snaps. Were there bad snaps, absolutely, did that one factor alone almost cost us the Iron Bowl, not likely. Did Auburn get over 240 yards on the ground off bad snaps? Defense give up 24 points off bad snaps? Alabama get 80+ yards in penalties off bad snaps?
Bad snaps certainly costs us, most assuredly in the second half of the playoff game against Michigan. But to say it almost cost us the Iron Bowl? That’s more revisionist history.

I mean…he really shite the bed in our two losses. He was a good player with a massive defect. We replaced him with a younger good player hopefully without that defect

Nah man this board famously carries Milroe’s water. Nothing but sunshine pumping for ol Jalen

I know he's probably just coming for the chance to see UGA in an extra game, but damn, I hope we roll out the red carpet for him again. He's probably right behind Underwood as the 2nd best player in the class of 2025.

Michigan had more experienced players and better coaching than Alabama did, and the result reflected that.
Is this why they were losing until that last drive?
As Belichick said a poor center not only throws off your QB but it makes your other 4 linemen dysfunctional.
Had we had a competent center who could snap the ball and make the calls confidently we would have won that game and that last TD they scored would have been a score to make the game look tighter.
That is with our average OC calling a bad game.
