I was just thinking how much of a beast Robert Gillespie is on the recruiting trail. Every year he recruits the top 4-5 rb's that he wants and every year so far, he has taken 2 of them. I'm really glad the new staff could hang on to him

Speaking of RB’s, anyone know if Turbo made it to the cookout? Hoping they can hang on to him. Where Dear is concerned, I expected him to go public at/after the cookout, too. After seeing the instagram posts pictured earlier and through interpretation, I believe he is a silent commit.

Seems to be some smoke that Turbo is flipping to fAU, but I imagine that would be because Dear is committing to Bama.

I think it's been pretty expected that he flips at some point. Most of the guys who have flipped have been expected and it doesn't seem like we've tried all that hard to keep them. If they hadn't flipped to the barn most would be a non-story.

Derrick Smith is definitely not one that Bama wanted to lose, especially to the Barn and considering the lack of DL recruiting this year, Antonio Coleman is one Bama couldn't afford to lose.

Winning takes care of everything. Sure, it’s all about the dollars also, but kids still want to go play for a winning program and compete for championships and get to the league.

My opinion now, especially with today's me now mentality, 1) biggest NIL payday 2) preparing them for the NFL 3) winning/championship...considering only 25% of any recruiting class makes it to the league players are hunting the bigger paydays in relation to development/draft prospects.

I agree with what you’re saying, but auburn still going to auburn shite up like they always do. They got the jimmy swaggart of coaches.
Freeze will only take them so far, that tiger never changes his stripes.

Oh I definitely agree on Freeze, unfortunately he knows how to play to the AU masses, they are eating it up and see him as the 2nd coming of Pat Dye.

No they're not.

Based on what exactly?
He had one solid win over Bama at Ole Miss. The 2015 game was filled with miracle bounces and Bama shooting themselves in the foot moments all game long that ended up costing them. Plus Coker didn't start the game.
Freeze may turn out to be a good coach and I'm sure he'll give us fits either way (they could hire a blow up doll to coach the team and still play a competitive game in the IB). But I'd hold back pn crowning him Bear 2.0 based on a win he snagged over Bama at Ole Miss. Otherwise, they may as well have hired Jimbo or Sumlin.

I mean.... maybe not much better but they aren't worse by any means.
Freeze's overall record: 80-54
Tubs: 159-99 (85-40 at the time he left AU)
Mazlahn: 101-54 (68–35 at the time he left AU)

The guy lost to Arkansas three years in a row when he was at Ole Miss. Weird how no one mentions that. The fact is he focused all of his efforts on beating Alabama and then lost to teams that he never should have lost to.

I'm not crowning him anything, could give a sh*t less about his coaching ability...Pat Dye record before landing at AU wasn't exactly stellar at Wyoming or East Carolina, but he come in and got Auburn above their normal means. Whether preacher man accomplishes that or not remains to be seen, but they are damn sure recruiting well above their means and he is pulling all the right strings for the fans.

Tubberville got his wins vs BAMA due to probation.
Manteets beat him 31-7 in cowtown before the sanctions tore us up.
Once Saban got some folks in, during his 2nd year he beat Tubs 36-0 and it could have been way more than that.

Agreed, Tuberville was a solid coach, but he benefitted from Bama playing with one hand behind his back. Once Saban got going, he tucked tail and GTHO. As good as Caddy and Ronnie Brown were as a combo and that 2004 Aub defense they were not as good as most all of the Saban era RBs and defenses.
