We’ve had a couple of fan anointed generational talents not pan out at QB. Heck, there may be one on the roster right now. And where is Blake Barnett? Using his Covid year for his 9th and maybe final season?

There are no guarantees.

Then melt is all I can say. Kid wanted to play for Saban and he retired so he left. Nothing could be done about it.

Also this probably all but guarantees that Ryan Williams doesn't recommit.

No it's not. Sayin is a generational talent that will win whoever he ends up with at least one natty and then be the first overall pick in the draft.

You have no way of knowing that until he plays in college.

So with all of these transfers, can we take 40 plus players in the 2025 class?

Are will still limited to 25 recruits per year or is that out the window too now?

Class size restrictions were permanently lifted I think. They realized that you can't have that and the portal at least.

On second thought, another QB is ok.

I remember when P Simms was going to beat out AJ and wins us a title.

Not when our star talent leaves because you brought the new QB to replace him

I guess now people will talk down Sayin and act like we didn't bet our entire future on him being the new Tua/Bryce.

These situations are delicate!

Tua almost left and would have if he had the portal. Yet we apparently hired an idiot who is more concerned about bringing Alabama down to being a Washington than he is about upholding a standard which Saban has set for Alabama to be the pinnacle of all.

I am confused here. Because unless my memory escapes me here did UW not just make it to the NC game with a weaker roster than UA who lost in the first round?

So what is the story, did they bring in Mack and Sayin left or did Sayin say he was leaving so they got Mack?

Granted in a weaker conference but this is definitely a boom. And they did beat Texas as well.

I haven't seen anything definitive. Folks are writing DeBoer off and don't even understand the circumstances.

There is a significant group of SOFT arse fans than are not good for this University.

Maybe one of those, or were the two things unrelated? Who knows? There could be any number of reasons. He could have been tampered into the portal, he could have seen the competition already here, and felt his future position was uncertain, he could have left because he didn't like it here as much as he thought he would (big difference between California and here), or simply because Saban left. He's gone, any way you slice it.

Looks like from the thread below Watts is saying bringing in Mack impacted Sayin's decision.

Honestly I can see it both ways. If they like the QB and he is willing to come you take him.

Sayin is looking saying I came here to run a different offense and be coached by Saban and now I am running a totally different offense that may not be fit along with them bringing in a QB they love, it is time to go.

Hate it cause Sayin has first round potential but such is life.

Just have to wait and see, cause again regardless who leaves the biggest thing I want to see is if new coaching leads to better on field performance.

If Milroe improves and then Simpson or Mack perform better than Penix am I going to be mad about Sayin, nope.

Honestly we have had coaching cost Bama and our QBs chances at Natty these last 3 years due to development and poor playcalling. All the talent and depth in the world could not overcome the coaching deficiencies.

As much as I hate losing guys, Not that heart broken about Proctor, Bond and Sayin (though ask me in a few years). The only guys I want back as of now is Downs and Amos.

My expectation (unless we lose some more important people) is that every area offensively should be better.

I think the Dline is fine. I think we need an inside linebacker coach that can get us back to elite, NFL draft 1st round caliber play.

My worry is the secondary. I certainly did not like Washington secondary play. I am extremely happy he built a new defensive team and like the hires so far and I believe in the guys who have chosen to stay for the moment, but of course we look to be losing elite guys.

I still believe this roster as it is currently constructed is better than anything outside of UGA in the SEC. Better than Texas, TAMU, Ole Miss, Lsu or anyone else. And my belief is it will be better coached than any team outside of Texas who I believe will lose something with Bo leaving. My biggest concern overall is if Lsu has figured it out with Baker as D coach, but their O may crash without Daniels.

He said that was his opinion, but it seems like it was just an opinion based on the optics (not any inside knowledge).

I have to believe it was mutual to some extent with both parties. Sayin just now leaving makes me believe him and his family spoke with DeBoer and after that both parties decided to depart.

Maybe Mack was brought in because DeBoer knew Saying was leaving or maybe DeBoer already had plans to bring in Mack and spoke with Sayin about it to let him know which triggered Sayin to the portal. I do not believe DeBoer did not want Saying but wanted to have a solid QB room to choose from..

Sayin is also 6'1. Mack is 6'6. DeBoer has also already reached out to 2025 Tennessee QB commit George MacIntyre who is 6'5.5. He seems to like the taller QBs so maybe Sayin is just not a good fit for what DeBoer wants to do.
