Poellnitz took late visits to Florida State and Ole Miss and also had interest from Southern Miss, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech, among others. However, the opportunity to play for Saban at Alabama was one Poellnitz couldn’t turn down.

“When I found out, I couldn’t go to sleep that night,” he said. “I’m ready to go. I’m super excited. This is an opportunity you really don’t have to even think about.”

No offense to the kid from Mobile, but if we're throwing out last second offers to 2-star players, that doesn't bode well for a strong finish today IMO. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm not totally convinced that this kid is signing a NLI.

Auburn bag men won't hand over any bags until Gus is gone.

From the linked article...

He’ll report in the summer and sign a scholarship later this year, Leopards’ head coach Ronnie Cottrell said.

Probably not going to count against the # this year.

The report does note that Poellnitz will enroll in the summer and not sign until later in the year, but it does say scholarship and not PWO.

Strong finish? This class is loaded. If we offer a 2 star at the last minute the kid must be a player.

Yeah, he could sign an academic scholarship. It just seems a little weird and late in the game.

ETA: It appears to be a "blueshirt" offer.

Sounds like he will not go on Scholly til fall - isn't that a "Blue Shirt" on next year's numbers?

Had no idea he was still coaching.

Just doesn't make sense considering we passed/didn't push hard for any wide receivers besides Metchie.

We're all missing the biggest part of this story - his coach is RONNIE COTTRELL?

We got on him late and found a way to count him forward. Maybe he'll be a hidden gem. Sometimes those guys with a chip on their shoulder are hard to beat. We'll see. I can't find any senior film, but it must have been good with the late flurry in his recruitment.

I actually stopped reading the article when I saw that. It's causing flashbacks and I'm not happy about it
