Peter Kim was a good one. I don't know if he was our first player from Hawaii, but must have been among the first.

CoolMtn was really enjoying himself when he thought it looked good for Sanders. Not so much now.

No. 1 RB, Alabama signee Trey Sanders to play in Polynesian Bowl
quote:
Top running back in the country, consensus five-star prospect and now officially a Polynesian Bowl All-American. Trey Sanders will now cap his prep career at the prestigious event in Hawaii, the Polynesian Bowl announced on Friday morning.
The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back, who signed with Alabama on Wednesday, adds to an already-stacked roster of future college football stars including fellow University of Alabama signees ending their high school careers as Polynesian Bowl All-Americans. Four-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, four-star tight end Jahleel Billingsley, four-star safety Demarcco Hellams are already locked into the game. The 2019 event will also honor sophomore Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has earned the Hall of Fame Kupono Award for Excellence.
Ranked as the No. 5 overall class of 2019 prospect on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Sanders also sits as the nation's top running back on 247Sports. At 6-foot, 214 pounds coming off of three seasons of excellence under the spotlight that is IMG Academy, the elite tailback talked about some lofty freshman goals in front of a national audience moments after selecting the Crimson Tide over Georgia, Florida State, Florida and Texas on Wednesday (video above).
"As a freshman at Alabama I do plan on winning the Heisman (Trophy)," he said. "Nothing less. If I come short I will be a finalist. I will be in New York next year and I'm looking to it. God gave me God-given ability and I believe I can do it my freshman year.
"I plan on coming in and playing early, as soon as possible. I plan on going in and giving them my all. I plan on winning a national championship, too."
As many know by now, every four-year class Nick Saban has signed at Alabama has gone on to win at least one national championship. But neither of the two Heisman Trophy winners at the program (Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry) were able to accomplish the feat as first-year players.
In just three years, the Polynesian Bowl has quickly become one of the most prestigious postseason games and honors a player can receive. The Polynesian Bowl is held annually during the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week. NFL Ambassadors include Marcus Mariota, Juju Smith-Schuster, Michael Bennett, Ronnie Stanley, Danny Shelton, and DeForest Buckner.
The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame honors Polynesia’s greatest players, coaches, and contributors. Its permanent home is located at the Polynesian Cultural Center (O'ahu's North Shore) and was established in 2013 by Super Bowl champions Jesse Sapolu and Ma'a Tanuvasa. Other board members include Troy Polamalu, Vai Sikahema, June Jones, and Reno Mahe. For more information, visit www.PolynesianFootballHOF.org.
The Polynesian Bowl and 247Sports recently announced a multi-year partnership. The 2019 Polynesian Bowl will be Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Aloha Stadium on O'ahu, Hawai'i, and will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.

After watching what our 2020 DT Commit did to him in that video, it doesn’t bother me he went to them. He absolutely got destroyed!
Maybe that's the reason he does not want to be a Center. Sopsher and some others mauled him,too at the All-Star camps. Buy I like his wrestling background.

Thanks Saint! That was the first one I put on pg.1322 under a link. Wanted it to be a surprise when they opened it. Always nice to have a little help from a Bama friend. It was from another view coming right at them.

I think UGA signed more 5 stars. And you're only ahead because you signed more kids lol.

I’m 28 and my favorite game is still the 06 cotton bowl (personal reasons) with Christensen making that shitty wobbly kick at the end of the game to win. Good times.
CSB. Just talking about old kickers jogged my memory of him and that game.
