ON ALABAMA'S OFFENSIVE LINE CLASS

"Well, we’re going to lose quite a bit, I think. I think it was important to have a good class in that area as well. And I think we were able to do that. We never know for sure right now exactly — guys going out early for the draft, we’ve always managed that when guys are high picks and all that.

"I think we try to give good information so they can make business decisions. But we never know for sure exactly what we need because of that and that can have a significant impact on how that impacts your team for next year. And it seems like every year more and more guys are going out early for the draft.

"My disposition is I think there were like 118 guys that went out early for the draft last year and something like 18 first round and 14 second round. And that adds up to 32 guys that really legitimately should have gone out. That’s 80 something guys that would be in this year’s draft that aren’t.

"So this becomes a cycle of more guys going out but yet there are guys that got drafted in the third round last year that would be the first guy picked at their position this year and they would make a significant amount more money. And those kinds of things you hate to see for your players because they can never make it up."

ON SIGNING KICKER WILL REICHARD

“I think the guy is a really talented guy, I mean, he’s a really good person, hard worker, really good specialist in all regards – he can punt, he’s a really good kicker, he’s had great production as a young player. We looked at it as a chance to improve our team in that area.”

ON IF STAFF CHANGES LAST YEAR PAID OFF THIS YEAR

“Look, we have a lot of coaches on our staff last year that were here for a long time. You know we lost a lot of coaches and were able to replace them with guys that were good recruiters. That’s always a priority when we hire somebody because I think it’s really important to have great relationships and have a lot of energy and enthusiasm and realize the importance of recruiting as a coach. If you don’t have good players, you’re probably not going to have a lot of success.

"So I’ve been very pleased with this staff. I was never disappointed in any other staff that we had in what we did (in recruiting). Most of the time when we don’t get players, I feel like it’s as much my fault as it is anybody’s because I’m the leader of the organization and you want to have an organization that attracts the people. And I think that players don’t come to a school just because of one guy.

"It has a lot to do with their position coach, other coaches that they develop relationships with, other people in your organization, whether it’s academic folks, medical staff, people in the strength and conditioning program. All these things I think are important to players when it comes to their development. So all these people contribute and everybody’s got to realize the importance of recruiting. I do think that our staff this year did a really, really good job to this point.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS

"I just want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. There's a lot of things that a lot of people do to make other people have a little cheer and happiness at this time of the year, regardless of how you choose to celebrate the holidays.

"But I know we have a lot of fans, a lot of people that support the program out there, a lot of you who certainly do a lot to reinforce all that our players do and give them a lot of positive self-gratification for what they do. So, I just want to wish everybody a very happy holiday season. Thank you."

Can we all just assume Nick processed Verne? When Verne saw how many Pacific Islanders Nick would be recruiting in the coming years he knew it was time to go.

Guys, we need to start a campaign to get Joshua "Bubba" Johnson an official offer from Bama. He's 6'2 and 350. Play's some running back and QB and does a little bit of everything ?. He's a damn good athlete for such a big guy.

For some reason im not that impressed. The kid from Arky last year was impressive to me.

Serious question: I hear a number of folks put an "n" in the first syllable of his last name: "Tun-go-vie-loa."

Is there really an "n" sound there? Or is it just people with fat tongues screwing it up? To me it looks like it should just be "Ta-go-vie-loa," but maybe I'm missing on some phonetic aspect of the Polynesian language.

Just got finished texting with Nash’s dad. Nash hasn’t been given a PWO offer, but Nash wants to attend UA. He said he was waiting to hear from the coaches within the next couple of weeks or so.

When do the recruits start showing up? Cant wait to get those guys into Cochran's workouts and Amy's food service. (think Neal will get to spend lots of time with Amy)

Are there any expectations for Ale Kaho to contribute next year? Watched some highlights, and think he has a lot of potential to be a solid linebacker.

Regarding Dabo’s announcement: that makes absolutely no sense. There has to be more to this story and maybe Dabo is trying to spin it positively.

Maybe this is part of the super-secret plan to dismantle the machine he has built at Clemson before he returns to the Mother Ship. ITS CHESS, NOT CHECKERS!!!

If I had to guess, I'd say he looked at his signees in recent years, realized that not a single spring OV has ever signed with them. They were just looking for a free family weekend, and he's decided to eliminate it since it doesn't benefit Clemson at all.

He contributed this year. Expected to be a big part of the D next year. Maybe (assuming Mack comes back) the first ILB off the bench. Very, very good potential.

I think for sure he will play a lot.The guy has gotten on the field from the moment he got off the plane without any conditioning. Once he gets the playbook he should be a regular next season.

I know it has been said a few times before, but I also wanted to say thanks to Saint, Surge, Carlton, and all of their other guys that keep this place going. I am new to the forum, but I appreciate all of the hard work. Not sure where else I would find this wealk of knowledge. Not on Rolltidebama or Woolyal. Anyway, thanks guys and gals.
