So now that the dust has settled on ESD, is there an under the radar guy we might try and pull in between now and February?
We’re hearing more and more from coaches, players, pundits, fans, pretty much everyone that the timing of ESD is really stupid. First of all, it’s not that early as Feb isn’t far away. Most everyone agrees that it should be pushed back to August or September with an out if the head coach leaves.
Second, it’s right in the middle of finals, the bowl/playoff season, and staff turnover time. Louisville’s class is a disaster and it’s really not Scott Satterfield’s fault as he didn’t have time before ESD to create relationships. They are missing almost an entire class. So will this be revisited anytime soon or will the NCAA not acknowledge their foolishness?

Akeem dent is waiting for NSD, so he might be back on our radar?
Most of our huge targets are still trending to us so I'm not sure who we would target under the radar wise.
ESD is already a ratings windfall for the NCAA's biggest media partners, the only way I can see it moving is if we go 8 team playoff and a literal playoff game is happening this weekend.

You can remove Gates. He is down to 3 ASU, USC & Nebraska as per one of my previous post.
Imo it seems unlikely Bama will push for Noa Pola-Gates or Marcus Banks, and both seem to be trending elsewhere. Darnell Wright seems likely to go to Tenn. Pickering isn't likely to flip and I think Young and Sopsher are higher on the board anyway. The top targets appear to be Keilan Robinson, Byron Young, Ishmael Sopsher, Henry To'oto'o and Khris Bogle. They may all be higher on the board than Christian Williams. I'm hoping Young and To'oto'o decide to sign by Fri.
Eta: Imo, Saban and the staff have done a great job -- #1 early signing class that already meets our needs well and we're in good shape with our remaining top targets to finish skrong.
Edit: Deleted DBs Pola-Gates and Marcus Banks from Top Targets list.

I disagree with the coach leaving thing. Kids should be told they are committing to the school, not the coach. And you have the reverse action with Satterfield being a prime example. If you let a kid leave a school because a coach leaves, then how can you tell a kid he has to stay at a school if he would have chose Louisville with Satterfield but didn't want to be with Petrino.
I know some kids fit certain systems and it seems like it is unfair to them if that system changes. But kids who are already on the team have to deal with it and don't get a free transfer pass. That is the chance someone would take for signing in Sept or August. I don't understand why any athlete would sign before Feb anyway. You know the status of the coach and majority of the assistant coaches, you know what players on the team have declared for the draft, and the is no real question about where you would fit in.

Just for your thoughts while thinking about what needs the recruiting class may still have...
ADDITIONAL Competition for incoming class - Injured in 2018 or redshirted
Red Shirted current season (2018 signees)
Jalyn Armour-Davis DB 6'0" 160 Knee injury 9/8
Cameron Latu DE 6'5" 235 Played 2 games
Jarez Parks DE 6'4" 260
Christian Barmore DT 6'6" 290
Emil Ekiyor OL 6'4" 339 Played 2 games
Tommy Brown OL 6'7" 315
Layne Hatcher QB 6'1" 204
Jerome Ford RB 5'11" 200 Played 4 games
Michael Parker TE 6'6" 236
Slade Bolden WR 5'11" 200 Played 1 game
Xavier Williams WR 6'0" 180 Played 2 game
So Class
Major Tennison TE 6'5" 245 Played 4 games (could still redshirt if the "rule" applies to upperclassmen)
Chris Allen LB 6'4" 232 ACL 8/18/18 (no playing time - redshirted because of torn ACL)
Daniel Wright DB 6'1" 185 shoulder inj 8/10/18 surgery 10/4/18; played 4 games (suspended VoTR) If stays with team reshirt available
Terrell Lewis DE 6'5" 256 Jr ACL 7/1/18 missed most if not all of season
PWO's of note 2018
Wes Baumhower LB 6'1" 220
Braxton Barker QB 6'1" 195
probably other Walk-ons who are tearing it up in practice, like there always is, but not sure which to list.
Joe Donald LB 6'3" 216 played at Mt Brook in Bham (gave up football after HS to pursue med school, currently Jr - not sure but believe this was 1st year with team? and probably because of LB depth)
Galen Richardson DL 6'3" 293 So who was showing out in the Spring, do not believe he saw the field this season

Saban wasn’t going to pay... I mean play ball.. ;) Good luck to the young man, he should be a good one if he keeps his mind right. Lots of talent and a frame to build on.

Just returned to the board before work this am. Everyone is whipped from yesterday's events... I wasn't on and as involved as most and I was, I know.
Maybe we can get some rest.. Can't imagine the stress on the coaches and the staff during this time. Planning for the game(s) playing nice with all these kids and their parents, fielding endless questions from the press and Everyone they come into contact with... they sure earn their money this time of year. Merry Christmas BamaNation

Anyone holding out hope on Akeem Dent can let it go.
Watts said we haven't recruited him in months.

The interesting part of ESD is according to your list Surge 17 are EEs. I know I saw somewhere a list of DEC grads plus at least 1 in Pettibon transferring. How many underclassman are expecting to jump for sure?

Pettibon-transfer
D Harris
J Mosley
R Clark
X Marks
K Anderson
J McMillon
C Miller
J Casher
L Cotton?

I guess for me keep who is committed and not signed and add To'oto'o, Sospher, and Bogle. I only see adding Wright on O which I do not see him coming. But UT is going to have to fight off everyone now for him since he did not sign and programs still need a OL. Glass only if Robinson goes to Maryland.
On D I am fine with not signing another DB and if a 4th spot on D comes open would love to get Lee. JMO

Crisis averted, I see. Good. I didn't want to have to check that every minute or so today.

I hope Saban and Co. Turn up the heat on Dent. Would he play the star position like Minkah? Good replacement for Hill maybe since they said Battle projects at the other safety.

I was mentioning that to a friend yesterday. Imagine dealing with the knife fight that is National Signing Day while juggling the gameplan/practice for OU & Kyler Murray. I know we have a ton of resources but that takes up a lot of bandwidth. That's a lot of stress at one time so I have no problem with the salaries these guys are making. Watching Saban during his PC yesterday, you could tell he doesn't really like the new schedule. Yet he adapted to it and dominated it. Shows you how dynamic he is as a coach. His ability to change is unmatched.
It also reveals how simplistic and dense the 8 team playoff crowd are considering they want to throw an extra game on top of all of this. Several talking heads, who's management experience is probably limited to choosing their twitter profile pic, just dismissed the logistical issues as no big deal yesterday.

Just noticed that OU got the #1 dual QB, plus the #1 and likely #2 WR in this class. That is a filthy skill player haul.
They get anybody to play defense?
