Texas is fixing to teach him and the rest of the Big XII that defense matters.

Many thanks to TideSaint and TidalSurge1. Really appreciate all the work y'all do in making the MEGATHREAD the one-stop/go-to place for recruiting info. Numero Uno on the interwebz and it ain't even close.

They going all in on that “best defense is a good offense” cliche

I think Matt Wells at Texas Tech and Matt Campbell at Iowa State will be thorns too.

Surge just brought to my attention that the 2019 MEGATHREAD has surpassed last year's record thread.
And we have 6 weeks to go.

I think there's a decent chance that Raekwon comes back. His stock has dropped.

Why is that? I heard his name alot for months and isn't he still a 5 star?
I don't think he's a 5-star on film. Also, I think he'd make a better Safety than corner, and Battle's film is better.

How many "request for draft grades" are allowed now? with all the guys who may wish to get a read on where they may go, seems Bama may be near or over the limit?
Dont think they need to send one for Q.Williams everyone seems to have him in the 1st and many in the 1st 10. Kid would not be smart to pass 1st round $ for another year of college play. 33 Jennings seems to be coming into his own after last year's injury and imagine if he has big playoff games he will head out

I know we are going head to head with Georgia for a lot of kids lately and there were times when it appeared they might jump us for #1 yesterday, but I wanted to point something out.
Good football teams are built from the inside out. If we only signed the OL and DL recruits in our class we would have scored a 242.12. Those two position groups alone would have been ranked as the #17 class overall.
Georgia's OL and DL recruits would have scored a 205.09. That would have been good enough for the #33 class.
I'm not taking anything away from Georgia. Their recruiting class is filled with elite talent.
But we restocked our roster with some outstanding OL and DL studs and that is where the games are won.

Thank you everyone for your contributions.
Now that ESD is over and NSD is weeks away what do we talk about?

Quick update of the commitment timeline post. Deleted NPG. I'm going to miss him. He was one of my "wanted to be here" all stars. I'm guessing glass will be a casualty before Jan 14th as well. I'll delete the committed people over the weekend although I'm sure everyone already knows who picked Bama.

On a side note, as of last night 38 of the 380 Blue Chippers (4 and 5 stars) had not committed. At least 2 are expected to commit today.
However, at least 50 other committed blue chippers (haven't finished my count) did not sign on December 19th. My guess is we will see a lot of flipping, relatively speaking, from now until Feb 6th.

What site are you using to determine this? It looks like 247 and Rivals are missing some people that actually signed yesterday.

What is the knock on D. Lee? Too slow to play safety or WR? Not physical enough for LB?

Alabama holds firm grasp on No. 1 class ranking
quote:
As the bulk of the Early Signing Period has passed, Alabama still sits atop the recruitingsphere – a spot it’s been very familiar with – as it goes for its eighth recruiting title in the last nine cycles.
Of course, we still have National Signing Day in February to go, but as it stands now, it would take a mighty effort for another program to dethrone the Tide when the 2019 recruiting cycle officially wraps up.
On the day, Alabama added three commitments, including a flip of 4-star safety Jordan Battle from Ohio State, 5-star running back Trey Sanders and 5-star offensive tackle Evan Neal.
Alabama signed 23 of its 26 commitments on Wednesday. The class in its entirety stands with a score of 312.24 on the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. If you just count the recruits the program has signed, Alabama sits with a score of 307.63 – still good for the No. 1 class ranking.
Nick Saban and staff signed three 247Sports Composite 5-star recruits – defensive lineman Antonio Alfano, Neal and Sanders.
The Tide’s highest-rated signee is Sanders, who is the No. 1 running back and the No. 5 overall player in the country.
Another impressive feat at this stage is 11 of its signees are rated within the Top100 of the 247Sports Composite Rankings. And the number grows to 12 if you include 4-star defensive lineman Byron Young who plans to sign with Alabama in February.
As for player grade average, the Tide’s has a 94.04 per commit clip at this juncture – also the highest in the nation. For comparison to 2017 (arguably Alabama’s best signing class in the Nick Saban era), the Tide’s average per commit was 93.76.
While rankings don’t mean a thing to Alabama head coach Nick Saban, he was still happy with the turnout
“We’re really pleased with the signing today,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “We were able to add 22 players to the roster. We still have a few more that may come in. We do have some additional numbers that we can take guys, so don’t do your calculations and scare off everybody that we’re recruiting for February because we do have spots left and there are good players out there that we’re very much interested in and are interested in us.”
The Tide certainly emphasized the defensive side of the ball, adding quite a bit of elite talent.
“It was a very high priority at all positions, and it’s going to continue to be a priority as we continue to recruit,” Saban said. “But we lost a lot of players in the last two years. We probably haven’t replaced them as quickly as we lost them. So, now we’re trying to -- and I think a lot of these players see the opportunity they have because of that. That was very important.”
