Lots of a people go that route. The academic rigors of engineering prepare you for medical school. Especially if a program offers biomedical or the like.
But he chose a Georgia program that is barely off the ground with engineering. I don’t think it’s even 5 years old.

Let's be honest, he isn't going to do engineering. Lot of kids say that and never do it, but it does show he cares about academics (along with his stellar HS grades).
