I dislike it for the same reason. In the past it seemed like we would come in on a few recruits in the last 2-3 weeks and steal them away from programs to amass our monster classes. Sure this would happen once in a while to us but there were plenty of players we got hot on after New Years and closed from the likes of FL, AU, LSU, etc...

I remember thinking an ESD would hurt us in this regard as we are consistently going later than other teams are due to having longer post season play than most. Kirby is obviously fully aware of this from his time with Saban and realizes the best way to get a kid from Nick is lock him down in late Nov/early Dec and just get him to sign the dotted line today thus barring Saban from his traditional ability to flip a guy late.

Last year it was obvious Kirby was aware and caught Saban flat footed. This year we got a jump and that's why we're starting out front, but Kirby did a good job in closing in on a few highly ranked guys that could give him the #1 class for a few weeks at least.

While we've always touted having the #1 class like it was yet another thing we dominated at, the reality that few of us ever really admitted is there is not much difference between being the top 2-4 classes most years. FFS our best RB is arguably a dude that was a 3 star basically nobody wanted lol

I mean, look at the momentum today against Bama...

We've bottled up great RBs and been able to beatdown great LBs. Massive, athletic OL will always be a problem IMO.

This is how it begins. Recruiting starts slipping (But lets be honest, we are the only program that could consider this slipping). Then you lose a game or two you aren't supposed to.

I don't think people realize who important this shite is. The people who say "We will win without them" or "I didn't want them anyway", are whistling past the graveyard. For this shite to happen two years in a row is almost catastrophic considering the program that is doing this is in our own conference and beating us at our own recruiting game.
