He's going to try to get a waiver.

6'0 220, that's about right. It's important to remember Dean is being recruited for his sideline to sideline ability and pass coverage skills, his size and run stopping is secondary.

Oh I agree he shouldn't get one, but he's going to try. Let's see if the Georgia fans white knight to let him transfer without sitting

I just don’t understand the thinking of most recruits from the state of Mississippi. You can stay in state and play for a 6-6 program at best (OM) or a team (Miss St.) who is, on average going to go 7-5, or 8-4. Or either you can play for an up and coming SEC power (GA), or play for the program that is next door to you that has won 5 out of the last 9 National Titles. Other than staying near home, it makes absolutely no sense.

On what grounds?

No clue, but it's what the Wolken article said

I believe he is applying for the I don't want to back up Jake Fromm hardship waiver.

bullshite. If you cant stop the run you wont play.

The Mississippi kid doing the Mississippi gesture while playing for team Mississippi is no big deal.

Agreed. I don't think the Landshark gesture means anything. And I'd actually be much happier if he went to Ole Miss than UGA.

This, no doubt is a large part of it. Also, some of these kids grew up DieHard Bulldog or Rebel fans. It is not that hard to believe they would want to play for the team they have been pulling for their entire lives. If I had been talented enough for D1 football and offered an opportunity to play any position at the University of Alabama even in the depths of the Dubose or the probation years, I certainly would have taken it over any other offer.

They just need to get rid of waivers and let kids transfer at this point.

I'm just really not sure how he could possibly get a waiver. He's a freshman playing less than a 2 hour drive from home.

Good point. I still think he is Bama.
Posted on 12/17/18 at 8:24 pm to Cobrasize
Waiver for what? I made a mistake in the team I signed with will not get you very far.
Posted on 12/17/18 at 8:26 pm to Tide or Die87
Wait I thought with the new transfer rules they passed this past summer transferring would be a free agent free for all with no sitting out. What happened to that?
Posted on 12/17/18 at 8:28 pm to phil4bama
That was for grad transfers in conference. Undergrads still sit out a year.

Kirby is playing a dangerous game of potentially allowing one player to be bigger than his program.
A ton of their recruiting is tied into Fields' being the QB of the future. Kids joined the program specifically to play with him.
This could be a disaster for Georgia if Kirby doesn't handle it correctly.
