Hey baw, what's this rumor going around about Justin Fields considering transferring to Valdosta State?

No way that's true, right?

Wouldn't he still want to play FBS, if in fact he did transfer?

Apparently he is homesick.

An underappreciated aspect of what Saban has been able to accomplish is that despite the fact that recruits for whatever reason still parrot the "business vs. family" horseshite, you almost never hear about our out of state players dealing with this. It's almost like we have a real family atmosphere and not a do whatever the frick you want and play Fortnite or CoD instead of going to class with zero repercussions family atmosphere.

You'd think that, but they are talking about it on the Georgia 247 site. Rusty Mansell said someone texted him with the information before it was brought to their board.

ETA: It looks like the Valdosta State part is probably bullshite, but this is what Rusty posted this morning:

quote:

There are some things going around right now about that behind the scenes from what I am hearing. Really dont have enough information to know what is true and what is false.

I did receive a text on yesterday that told me he is strongly considering it.

I HAVE NOT heard anything else about it at this point.

TigerPaw1 again, on their board:

Also KN has update on DJ Williams this morning. Says UGA definitely wants him but he's hearing that AU might still be the team to beat. Dawgs hard after 5* RB Trey Sanders as well

Hopeful this is a sign of where UGA stands with Sanders.

Yea I saw that too - I just don't understand it at all.

The only angle is that he can transfer and play immediately.............but Division II? I mean, as a QB? I don't understand.

I edited.

It looks like the Valdosta State stuff was posted by someone trying to be funny. Then Rusty dropped the hammer and all the joking went out the window.

I’ve heard from one pretty solid source that Fields is thinking about transferring. Playing one year similar to Cam at Blinn, and then tOSU would be the favorite to land him going forward. I really hope that isn’t true and it’s a damn shame the way Kirby botched the handling of him this year. He has unlimited potential, but anytime he’s in trouble he tucks and runs (as evidence by the SECCG). Also makes poor decisions from time to time and didn’t have a great comprehension of the playbook which is very understandable as a Freshman.

That being said I’m very hopeful he stays, and plays in Athens after Fromm goes pro. He would play in 2020 at the D1 level regardless of transferring or staying in Athens most likely.

As for Luke Ford, from everything I’ve heard he’s taking a couple extra days at home over the holidays and then will be back in Athens after Christmas for bowl practice.

Btw, here’s my best take from yalls board last NSD just so we’re not talking about Georgia the whole time in the recruiting thread:

Waddle is a fantastic get. Kid has elite potential in the slot. Gets open, has good hands, and absolutely flies

LOL - yea, I've always thought the whole "he isn't going anywhere he's fine waiting until Fromm leaves early" thing felt a bit presumptuous and not true.

(1) Fields was the #1 player in the country - it's not just a given that guys like that are ok sitting for 2 seasons

(2) I like Fromm a lot, but there is zero guarantee that he leaves after his Junior year (either because he doesn't want to or because his NFL draft grade is good but not great).........and then Fields is gonna sit around and wait ANOTHER year or transfer then?

Not to mention, look at what Kyler Murray did. You think Fields doesn't see that and think about what he could go to a place like Oklahoma or Ohio State, sit a year and redshirt and learn things and rep them in practice, play in 2020 and leave for the NFL right after?

How did Kirby botch it? Fromm was dynamite down the stretch, he earned the majority of the snaps.

It has to do with the way we played him. Fromm definitely earned the snaps and I thought we should have redshirted Fields.

But I don’t want to derail your recruiting thread by talking about him, so that’s the last I’ll post about it here

Botched in terms of potential promises made to Fields and then how he was utilized in his limited snaps. There is a way to handle that dynamic that doesn't devolve into 4-5 plays a game and a truly ill fated fake punt for the #1 qb in the country.

Very impressed with Fromm. Off the top of my head him and Aaron Murray are the only pocket passers that have given us trouble under Saban and this is twice for Fromm.

"Tim, is it something in particular that makes you think Sanders wont end up at Bama?"

"Not really and he might still end up at Bama. More of a hunch based on how crazy this has been." - TW
