Averett not going 1st round, but Payne could and that would get you to 5.

Yeah I don't see that happening.

First round is Minkah, then Ridley. Possibly Payne.

To much Homer. Every year we get those over the top prediction and every year it's less than what they thought.

I do believe we can get 11 or 12 drafted which would be a record

Saban stops in to see 5-star underclassman via helicopter

quote:

The contact period is back and Alabama head football coach Nick Saban has returned to the recruiting trail with one more national championship to his name.

On Tuesday, Saban and tight ends coach Joe Pannunzio stopped off in Florida to see 2019 five-star cornerback and Florida State commit Akeem Dent.

Rules prohibit coaches from making contact with underclassmen off campus at this point in their recruitments, but coaches are able to evaluate prospects and speak with the high school staffs (not to mention it shows the interest level a school has in a prospect when the head coach comes in via helicopter).

Dent, the nation's No. 1 cornerback for 2019, picked up an offer from the Tide back in October after committing to the Seminoles in July.

2018 Mock Draft
This is the mock I was looking at. I don't know much about YardBarker, but I was surprised to see Averett also.

I've seen Averett as a second rounder before but not as a first. I'd think he'd really have to put on a show at the combine to get up there.

They have Josh Allen going before Rosen and Roquan at #3. I don't think I would trust their mock draft.

That's the first time I've ever seen that.

It was for USCw by the way.

Bama DL target Tyler Friday officially sets announcement date

quote:

Four-star defensive tackle Tyler Friday will announce a commitment on Friday at 1 p.m. CT, the Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep product Tweeted on Tuesday.

The Top100 prospect has narrowed his list to Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State.

After originally not making Friday's top five earlier this fall, the Tide got itself back into the picture with a late push.

“Basically it’s that they’ve got some guys that are going to be graduating coming up here I guess,” Don Bosco Prep coach Michael Teel said of the Tide’s recruiting pitch to Friday. “They need defensive linemen. Any good program across the country is built with the offensive and defensive lines. The opportunity to go down there and be coached up by Coach Dunbar and be part of a system and tradition like Alabama, it’s a pretty easy pitch in my opinion.”

Friday visited Tuscaloosa on Dec. 15-17. He's also taken official visits to his other two finalists.

Last week, Friday planned on making a commitment, but decided to hold off until further notice. Tide defensive line coach Karl Dunbar was in the Garden State last Friday to visit.

At 6-foot-3, 263 pounds, Friday is rated the No. 3 defensive tackle and the No. 83 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The Crystal Ball is currently trending in favor of Ohio State.

Speaking of the VIP CB'd player:

quote:

Mission Viejo (Calif.) DB Olaijah Griffin will visit Bama on (Jan. 26). He just visited USC and has Oregon set for next weekend. Griffin is my top corner out West over Isaac Taylor-Stuart, very good athlete, instinctive, very good ball skills and tough competitor.

This is from Greg Biggins.

They will lose traffic because of that. I don't have a subscription anymore but I would go over there to look at their rankings and the CB picks. I really don't have much of reason to go over there anymore.

Alabama set for big recruiting weekend

quote:

This will be a big recruiting weekend for Alabama.

At least 10 players are scheduled to take official visits with the Crimson Tide this weekend, including five-star cornerbacks Patrick Surtain and Tyson Campbell, AL.com has learned.

Among the other players expected to take official visits this weekend are five-star offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere, four-star linebacker J.J. Peterson, four-star wide receiver Justyn Ross, four-star quarterback James Foster and three-star defensive lineman Malik Langham.

Four-star Crimson Tide wide receiver signee Xavier Williams and two current Tide commits, four-star linebacker Quay Walker and three-star athlete Vernon Jackson, are also expected to take their official visits with Alabama this weekend.

It appears that the Tide has eight remaining spots for this year's class after signing 15 players during the early signing period.

Smh...we should've took the kid that ended up at Washington. Been smoke surrounding Walker for the longest time. We were just being stubborn.
