Just loads of talent in general in the mid-Atlantic. The DMV (Washington D.C., Maryland, and northern Virginia), and now North Carolina, are becoming a priority region for Alabama.

OLB Robert Beal's Top 5 (in order):

Texas
Florida State
N.C. State
Alabama
South Carolina

quote:

On Alabama: “It’s Alabama,” said a source. “Coach Tosh Lupoi has made him the No. 1 target, as has Jeremy Pruitt. Robert is really looking forward to his first visit to campus.”

He will be in Tuscaloosa next weekend. He decommitted from Notre Dame due to his sister not being accepted there. I haven't seen anyone post where she will be attending school yet but they obviously want to go to the same school.

Time for the REC to get to work.

It appears a couple of posters on BOL know the JUCO linebacker we just offered (Gary Johnson). Here's what they had to say about him:

quote:

This past season Johnson racked up 133 tackles and eight sacks. He'll have two years of eligibility when he graduates in December.

Coached him in high school. Still learning how to play the position but a "freak" athlete... So happy for him!!

Lol..."small" community with a traditional bad football program. Gary moved in from Midfield and had to sit out his JR year for eligibility issues. Played him at MLB his senior year and the dude was a freak! He was hampered with an ankle injury most of year but still dominated. Last year at Dodge City he finally was healthy. The kid is very raw but such an athlete

You are right. There are no black kids in Douglas. Gary Johnson played AAU basketball with a couple of brothers from Douglas. From what I understand, their parents received custody of him and helped get him out of a bad situation in B'ham. He was injured when the school I taught at then played them in football. I saw him play us 3 times in basketball. He was a man among boys. He physically dominated his opponents on the court. Grades are the only reason he was not D1 coming out of high school.

A couple people asked him in the comments, but I remember Foster wore #1 in high school. With Chris Black transferring to Missouri maybe he switched to it.

At least I hope that's what happened.

ETA: I was wrong about his high school number. He wore #4.

No way he is transferring. Was starting last year before he got hurt and would play a ton this year. Blake isn't the starter right now so this means nothing about foster IMO

Would be disappointing but not surprising for him to transfer. 5 star who doesn't take off in his first few years, coming off a serious injury, a freshman who comes in to be the obvious new star, and a transfer who come in taking up some catches. We've seen similar before. Hopefully Foster knows better, he'll be a star when he stays healthy this year

I love how people are jumping to conclusions but the kid was our #1 go to WR before injury. Even with Ridley stepping up there is not another WR who played this past season with more talent then Foster. Unless the injury will hamper his ability. With the exception of Ridley every other WR will have something to prove if Foster is healthy in spring camp and back to form.
