I agree all those guys can fly but you have to take underclassmen's unofficial pro day numbers with a grain of salt

With those numbers Urban Meyer must have been the one holding the watch.

Interdasting visitor this weekend:
Quinten Dormady Highlights

Quinten Dormady Highlights
From Barton Simmons:

Texas QB Quinten Dormady is in Tennessee this week. He's visited Tennessee Monday Tuesday and he's at Vandy today and yesterday. Bama got word that he was in the area and has asked him to come down and visit on Friday which he is planning to do.
Dormady is an interesting prospect because he's got outstanding sophomore film but he missed his entire junior year after tearing his labrum in a baseball slide. So while he's really talented, no one has seen him throw in a year. But he's definitely got SEC level potential and will likely end up at a major program assuming this spring and summer go well.

Non-VIP content regarding Dormady:
I wonder if Dr. Andrews gave a call to the Bama staff about this kid?
quote:
Colleges and recruiting enthusiasts alike are studying junior film and looking at stats and post-season honors to help themselves discover the next great talent at the quarterback position. But there is one elite talent that won’t be discovered with that approach. It will take a slightly deeper dig to find Boerne (Texas) High School passer Quinten Dormady.
Dormady's father is his head coach.
A 6-foot-4, 210-pounder with a strong arm and good athleticism, Dormady missed all of 2013 with an injury and thus is still waiting for his first offer but dig into that sophomore film in 2012 and you’ll find a quarterback with all kinds of talent.
Dormady tore his labrum during the playoffs in baseball as a sophomore, causing him to miss all of his junior season at quarterback. With famed sports orthopedic surgeon James Andrew overseeing his recovery, Dormady is already well ahead of schedule in his recovery and back to 100 percent. Now he’s anxious to prove to college coaches that he’s ready for the next level.
Part of that process begins this week. Dormady’s spring break kicks off on Friday and with that, he will take off on a few college visits, starting in the state of Tennessee.
“There’s a handful of schools that really seem to be interested and that I’ve talked to and our spring break is this week coming up here and I’m going to go around to those schools and visit campus and watch spring ball,” Dormady said.
“I think I’m going to leave Sunday night and the first place I’m going to go on Monday and Tuesday is Tennessee. Then I’ll start heading back this way and stop at Vanderbilt. They called my head coach the other day and they seem to be pretty interested so I’m going to stop by there and then Oklahoma State towards the end of the week. I’ll eventually go over to Texas sometime I’m not sure when.”
Tennessee is Dormady’s first stop thanks in part to the early interest from offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bajaikan.
“Coach Bajaikan saw my film and he heard from someone about me so he came down and watched me throw and videoed me and that’s pretty much how it started so I just kept in touch with him and we’ll see how it goes,” he said. “Coach Bajaikan is a good guy. I don’t really know much about the campus or anything like that so we’ll see early next week I guess.
“Vanderbilt, they litereally just this week contacted me. I don’t know how that started either but they wanted me to stop by and check things out and they’ve got a new coach so I don’t know much really other than they’re going to be tough academically.”
To finish the trip, Dormady will be taking in Oklahoma State but all of those trips have an outstanding Texas junior day visit to live up to. Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson impressed Dormady during that experience.
“I love him,” Dormady said of Watson. “All those coaches are great guys. I went there for their junior day last weekend and it was amazing how personable they are. They put us in groups according to positions and the position coaches followed us around so coach Watson was with our position group the whole day. The old staff wasn’t like that. That was definitely a huge upside to the new staff here.”
Texas is asking Dormady to visit again this spring for a spring practice session to continue to build on that relationship. Relationships will likely be the most important factor to Dormady when the offers do start to come.
“The biggest thing is just coaches and the campus and that I’m willing to spend four years at it and enjoy it and not worry about things,” he said of what’s important to him. “Just feeling that they’re good guys and they’ve got character about themselves and they’re not going to do anything to hurt me in any way.”
Currently Dormady is rated by 247Sports as a high three-star and the No. 19 pro-style quarterback in the country.
I wonder if Dr. Andrews gave a call to the Bama staff about this kid?

QB Quinten Dormady, Boerne – This time last year, Dormady was being talked about in the same conversation as some of top quarterbacks in the class. However, a shoulder injury caused the coach’s son to miss his entire junior year. If he is able to show at Elite 11 and in spring camp that he is fully healed and back to his old form, schools will certainly have their interests piqued.

Could this kid be our guy? Sounds like a really good fit, sans his obvious interest in Texas.

Boerne's Quinten Dormady is one of a handful of 2015 quarterbacks that is getting looks from the new Texas coaching staff as they attempt to figure out exactly who they want for the multiple spots available for the class.
The 6-4, 210 pound signal caller is now hearing from Texas, who he visited Saturday, Oklahoma State, who he will be visiting over his high school spring break, and Tennessee.
Dormady had a very good time on his visit to Austin over the weekend and is looking to hear from the Texas coaching staff this spring.
“They just need to see me throw so Coach (Shawn) Watson is going to come this spring,” Dormandy said. “We'll see then. They really like my film, they just have to see me now and watch me this fall.”
As for which of the three schools he prefers at this time, Dormady is still evaluating things, but that Texas would currently have the edge before his visit to Stillwater.
“Well, Texas for sure, but I haven't met anyone from OSU yet. Just spoke over the phone. But Texas is for sure,” he said.
Dormady is a three-star prospect rated an 88 overall and considered the No. 61-ranked prospect in Texas for 2015. (Barber)

The 3A state player of the year as a sophomore before tearing his labrum sliding back into second base last spring. On the mend, but no junior film.

Do we really need a QB this cycle? Obviously a Ricky Town was a take. Putting full court press on a 2016 guy would probably be more pragmatic. It would be nice to sign someone who can't be negatively labeled at QB for once.

This is from 8 months ago:

Boerne 2015 quarterback Quinten Dormady looks the part. He's every bit of 6-feet-4-inches, 190-pounds. Unfortunately for he and the Greyhounds, getting off the bus and standing on the sideline is about all he'll be able to do this fall.
One of the best natural passers in the state in the rising junior class, Dormady is recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He went to Florida to have the surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews, but he's not expected to be fully released until December.
Dormady attended Texas' sophomore day in February, and Major Applewhite was due by Boerne in late spring. Unfortunately, Applewhite scheduled his visit far out in advance that it slated for the week after Dormady had his surgery.
Texas and Texas Tech were showing heavy interest before the injury and Penn State continues to reach out to Dormady. He's currently ranked No. 175 overall in the Top247 for 2015.

I guess it depends on who we can get. There is one guy still out there that I want our staff to offer and that's California QB Brady White.
His CB is heavily in favor of Cal, but they are a certified dumpster fire right now so he may be willing to look our way if we offered.
This Dormady kid looks good, but he didn't play last season. The staff is obviously intrigued by him because they asked him to come by tomorrow.
By all accounts he was going to be a very highly rated kid had the shoulder injury not occured. It's the same injury Drew Brees sustained in his last game with the Chargers. We all know how well he has recovered.

Why is QB the one position we can't seem to get our Tier 1 guy? (AJ and Sims in two fairly weak QB cycles being the exception now with 8 Saban cycles under his belt). We just had the Heisman runner up at QB. And they have picked all kinds of second rate programs over us as well. It is basically the mirror of the situation we had landed Jimmy Clausen in Saban's 40 day long 2007 cycle.

The Texas 247 site ranked the Top 25 for the 2015 class 10 months ago (before their Junior seasons). Just wanted to give a little perspective as to how good Dormady may be:
Now we all know Stidham had a very, very good Junior season, but who's to say Dormady wouldn't have been just as impressive? He was the 3A Player of the Year as a Sophomore.
quote:
22. Quinten Dormady, QB, Boerne
Dormady is the signal caller in the class that receives the least attention, but that is expected to continue to change. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is a natural passer with try impressive accuracy, and especially in the red zone. While Dormady does have the arm strength to work the field vertically, his strength in the seams, his game is more about timing and accuracy.
Recruitment: Interest from nearly every program in the region.
quote:
24. Jarrett Stidham, QB, Stephenville
If one is looking for the prospect on the list that could ascend more than any other in 2013, look no further than the next Stephenville signal caller. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder played receiver in 2012 and flashed his plus athleticism, and now will take the ball with the type of arm talent to become one of the nations best in 2015.
Recruitment: Baylor has offered, along with interest from a number of top regional and national programs.

FWIW, this is where they ranked Thompson:
quote:
14. Deionte Thompson, S, West Orange-Stark
If there was an award for being in the right place at the right time, and finishing plays with interceptions Thompson would win it in 2015. While there are safeties with more speed and explosiveness, the list at the position with better feel, ball skills and the coaches dream frame are very few. Not just a ball hawk, Thompson displays the ability to make sound reads in the run and passing game and finish with sure tackles.
Recruitment: Committed to Alabama.

Other than Jameis Winston in 2012, there just haven't been many highly ranked QBs in the Southeast in the past 3-4 years.
We don't have any "home grown" talent at that position. Hell, California has 7 QBs in the Composite 247 for this class. Seven.
