This should settle any debates, if there are any, about who needs to be in the booth next year.

Being a bammer is all it takes, eh? I like Stewart but he doesn’t have a big league voice. Showing more emotion doesn’t mean it’s better. Calling a game takes more than excitement.

Stewart is fun because he’s one of us and he’ll be the guy one day…but really I just don’t get why you guys can’t let Eli finish on his own terms. He’s earned it.

Why? Not only was he well paid to do a job, he's probably made millions over the years in endorsements and commercials he was able to do because he was fortunate to have that job. He isn't owed anything.

I’ll sure miss knowing exactly what the opponents uniforms look like while trying to guess down and distance.

I also enjoy seeing the disappointed Georgia radio booth in the background.

I like Chris. Tyler is kind of a kill joy, but I guess they balance each other out. I love Eli, he has been all I know, but it’s time for him to step aside.

Chris Stewart is the heir apparent but man you gotta let Eli Gold leave on his own terms. The dude has been calling Alabama Football games since 1988.

Why didn’t Eli call the game yesterday? He made a two hour trip to Auburn, he couldn’t make a two hour trip to Atlanta?

They have not had good color men since Snake. Savage was ok but always seemed a little stiff. Wilson and Watts are in over their heads. I think 90 percent of my affinity for Eli was the fact that I associated him with Snake since they did it together as I was growing up an Alabama fan.

Explain to me why doing something for a long time means you're entitled to do it in perpetuity, even if you're no longer doing a good job.

Exactly. 1,000,000%. If calling games since 1988 is the only reason to keep him...that isn't a reason.

Why does this phrase only apply in sports? And really, only seems to apply to some coaches and broadcasters.

“You know, Bob’s been here 30 years and used to be our top salesman. I know Bob doesn’t sell as much anymore and we’ve got Bob Jr. waiting to take over, but Bob deserves to go out on his own terms! He’s earned it!”

I’ve never liked Eli’s calls. He sounds like Mickey Mouse. And it’s “pantS leg” in Alabama, not “pant leg”!!

I agree with this. God bless that man he is as Alabama as Alabama gets. But I agree Chris Stewart at this point in their careers does a better job.
