We currently have the #3 recruiting class in the country, ahead of...

Duke
Kentucky
Villanova
Kansas
Baylor

And way the hell ahead of Gonzaga and Carolina.

Exciting times for the basketball program, no doubt.

He’s a great coach. Can he sign the players he needs to truly turn this into an elite program? How good of a recruiter was he at Buffalo in relative terms?

Nope he is a total loser who is in over his head and will be gone in 4 years.

Edit; I failed to recognize that the thread started early in 2020, when there might have been some room to question things.

Most of you young guys probably don't know this, but back in the 50s Alabama hired a guy out of the Midwest (Notre Dame grad) named Johnny Dee. He came to Tuscaloosa in '53 and immediately recruited kids from Ohio, Chicago and Louisville, Ky. He signed 5 guys that season and they were the nucleus of the '56 team known as The Rocket-8. Their Senior year Alabama went 21-3 overall and 14-0 in the SEC, and were the 1st team to ever score 100 points on a Kentucky team (101-77).
I'm not saying Alabama's gonna do that with Oats, but imo, he's the type of coach that could come in, recruit well outside of the Southeast, and put a helluva team together in a couple of years...We'll see.
Bump
The style of play that Oats has brought here is gonna have talent excited to come.

After Wilson release, #10, but these rankings like 24/7 are bogus because they do not count transfers. The transfer portal is the prime recruiting ground now, so any ranking that does not rank 5* Burnett and All Conference Gurley at all, is not giving an accurate picture of the recruiting class.
