Bird, I have actually sunk a lot of enthusiasm into basketball the last 3 years or as much as a negative Nancy like myself can do. Grant lost me as a fan and Johnson won me back. I really thought this year may be the year that we might could be a top 4 or team in conference. It makes it worse that Auburn has an elite coach and they have a top ten team right now. I want to believe but how can I?

U can call me a sunshine pumper if u like , hey it's your opinion.. not gonna down anyone for being a pessimist. I take issue only because this team does some frustrating things but I always can excuse mistakes by giving effort and being young over not giving a shite. 90-99 percent of this teams problem is youth , u may not wanna hear it but it takes time for a bunch of 18-19 year olds to have the maturity needed to be great.

This thread is an amazing example of how shitty and entitled our fanbase is.

Every school this year is inconsistent, not named Virgina, Villanova and Purdue.

We sign ONE good class... nothing near Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, etc.. and you all expect perfection. Grant set us back, this isn't an easy or quick solution.

We have an exciting team that doesn't get up for the small teams but beats the big ones. Be happy about that. Be happy for at least that progress.

Instead of demanding perfection in a sport we have struggled in for over a decade and one we need much more time and investment to solidify.

All the crap talked about Mizzou and they just beat Kentucky. There is literally no perspective with some of you.

Yep entitled and shitty is putting it kindly. I understand that this team frustrates us and I get the pessimism believe me but turnarounds usually happen in basketball when u have a group of guys that have been through the conference battles together. Some grow quicker than others but hopefully we ll be peaking next month when it really matters.

No doubt. I have always been a negative person but I don't think I feel entitled when it comes to the basketball program. It is just painful to see this much talent lose to Vandy and Mississippi. Let's just enjoy the rest of the year and support those kids.

LOL. Do you ever get tired of riding on your high horse?

Alabama fans aren't perfect but we are a fanbase that gives a damn and I'll take that every day of the week over complacency.

Sorry, I'm not just gonna be happy with performances like the Missouri game.

That doesn't mean I won't also be really happy when things like yesterday happen, but I'm not just going to say "aw shucks it happens they tried" when we put 40 minutes of pure shite on the floor.

Yes, games like yesterday are the kind of performance you should expect from a young, talented team. They were extremely sloppy and unfocused early on but then they tightened things up. 40 minutes of lazy, no fricks to give basketball like we have seen against Mizzou, Texas, UCF, etc. is completely inexcusable no matter what the team's level of experience or talent is.

Ultimate optimist viewpoint: During Avery’s 1st few years we won some games we definitely should not have won and it warped our expectations. We were picked in the bottom 4 preseason both years and were firmly on the bubble in February. Now with a roster as young (but not quite as talented) as a typical Kentucky roster and we are in the same position as the wildcats. And, unlike Kentucky, most of our talented guys are 2-3 year players

Seems to be we've gotten better every year. That's the important measure.

The problem is I think so many people are tired of living through the same season every...single...year...no matter the coach. Its like Charlie Brown and the football. Every season plays out like this: We stumble in December and lose games we have no business losing putting us behind the 8-Ball for a tournament bid. We get some momentum in January by beating some semi-average teams and start talking about how if a few things go our way, we're in the tournament. There's a loss at Vanderbilt and a loss at Ole Miss somewhere along the way. Come February, we start losing some games we shouldn't lose along with a few that we should. Despite the losses, some expert like Lunardi still has us as "First Four Out" so we cling to hope by talking about our RPI and how many games we need to win in the SECT. However, that hope is quickly extinguished when we lose to Kentucky in our second game of the SECT en route to another NIT bid. This is Alabama Basketball.

I know it feels like groundhog day, difference is we legitimately have good wins and a SOS of #6 and the league is more respected this yr. I get the general point tho.
