In all honesty, I wonder if they were able to secure some supplemental insurance to add to whatever policies they had in place before the season began.

Like I mentioned before. Saban can typically get the players to play. If they do play as I’m hearing I’m incredibly proud of them for that decision.

Maybe but in the NIL era, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see less opt outs.

It’s not an all or nothing proposition anymore. Bryce Young is already set with NIL money, and the recurring money he could generate signing Alabama memorabilia. Anderson probably isn’t far off either.

Respect to these guys if true - good teammates

According to Chris Low, Saban said he doesn't expect any opt-outs

Alabama QB Bryce Young and OLB Will Anderson Jr. have told Nick Saban they plan to play in the Sugar Bowl and Saban told ESPN that @AlabamaFTBL isn’t expected to have any opt-outs for the game.

I would not have been upset with any of them for opting out, but this decision (from those 2 specifically but also everyone, apparently) moves them all up on the list of former players.

Guys love the school, the program and each other. Really awesome.

It’s big enough news to have its own thread. Plus, I overlooked your thread.

OT, but I hate how all the basketball talk is confined to one thread. It may make sense to have just 1 thread before the football conference championship, but not when there’s this long between football games.

Well among the guys left, a lot “opted out” via the portal.

I just got some info on that and if true makes me incredibly happy.

They had a full team meeting where Saban gave his speech on a great year, he was proud of the team etc. He said at the end he understands guys have to take care of themselves and their future. Bryce apparently stood up and said he didn’t speak for anyone but was going to play in the game. This set off a chain reaction of NFL bound guys and seniors to stand up and say they were playing as well. Great leadership by these guys.

Good to hear. Just hope Bryce doesn't get hurt. Would like to see him go #1 overall. He gets hurt, Stroud will be #1. Houston needs a QB to play right away.

Selfishly though, would rather not see Bryce play for Texans. If he dropped to Detroit, He wouldn't have to start right away and would get to play with Jameson again.

Some attacked these kids thinking they gave up on the team in the middle of the season..

Some even said they wouldn't play the bowl game.

These kids are playing for the university. For the love of Alabama.

I said that but it was nothing against their feeling for the team or Bama. It just made more financial sense to sit out since we weren't in the playoffs. I would have completely understood if they sat out.
