Since you said you don't like regular beer, I would start with some of the fruited sours. They're almost more like a mixed drink in taste than a beer. My wife hates beer, but will drink several of the fruited sours I bring home. If you dig those, pale ales are a good introduction. Sierra Nevada's is kind of the standard bearer for pale ales and is very easy to find.

The first time I got hammered was on beer. We were at Smith lake and didn’t have anything to drink except for beer. It was wonderful and I drank my arse off. Got sick and haven’t been able to drink it since

I'd compare it as you would food dishes, higher quality of ingredients and technique makes a superior product.

The Spleen really hit the nail on the head on what styles to try and avoid initially. If someone gave me a double IPA as my first "craft beer", I'd probably still be drinking strictly Abita and Leinenkugel.

Would have saved some money though, like dropping almost $40 on a World Wide Stout 4 pack I've got stored

Sours are a really good option, especially with it warming up outside.

I'm the opposite. I find DDH IPAs much more palatable than regular IPAs.

I don't particularly like brown ales either. Love stouts and porters though.

I sure hope so. I can’t stand regular beer, but it sure would be nice to be able to open the fridge and just grab a drink.

I can't imagine you not liking a well done hazy, hoppy IPA.

Same with a well done fruited sour, as Spleen mentioned.

That's fair, IPAs generally stand lower in my rotation vs Stouts, Porters, Browns, Sours(they flip based on weather). Think they'd be slightly jarring initially into craft beer, but that might just be me imprinting a personal experience.

Founders does some really good Browns, Frangelic Mountain was a personal favorite.

So now that we're apparently going to be home-bound soon with no sports to watch, what are we drinking to ride this thing out?

Yes, but I think they're only doing curb side pick up.

I'm about to go to the Piggly Wiggly and get some beer though. Probably a couple Hazy IPA's and some sours since it's starting to warm up.

How does that work? Call in and tell them what you want or do they have an online ordering system?

I've seen that you can email, call, or "drive-thru".

I've seen/heard conflicting info about their retail store still being open to the public.

Trying to get my hands on that Yellow Belly they got in.

I went to their Facebook page to see if they had instructions. You can either call in, email or drive up to make an order.

I'm thinking about driving up on Saturday morning.

Man, half the fun is browsing though. I'm a sucker for good can art.

Speaking of fruited sours, the new brewery in Trussville has a banging gose.

Ohh, that looks good. I can't tell scale from that picture - is that a crowler prepared on-premises, or do they distribute?

That can in the foreground is a pint. The two cans in the back are 32oz, so crowlers. All prepped on site.

They have a banging restaurant on site too, but it's unfortunately closed, for obvious reasons.

Yeah that one is damn good. Among the best canned sours I've had in Bham.

Going to try and swing by hop city after work today with my crowler.

I just called in an order to Hop City to pick it up tomorrow, but they were out of a few Trim Tab beers I wanted.

Anyone know another place that may have some of the DDH IPAs they put out monthly like Cloud Architecture and Theory of Abundance?

Hell, does the Trim Tab brewery sell cans of their own stuff?
