Had to pop in TrimTab for their Birthday anniversary beer after dragging my feet over a lot of small batch stuff.
Man, a Peanut Butter Coffee stout went amazing with prime rib Saturday. Also picked some of their DDH sour up, it be a good start for a sour fan to move into IPAs or vice versa.

I did a drive-thru pickup for Hop City on Saturday. Went perfectly, ordered online, and they called me back when they didn’t have a full six pack of something I’d bought.
Are the breweries doing drive through, call ahead or what? I’d like to support them and think it’s probably better than coming from the Pig.

Check out the Bell’s Arabicadabra. It’s my favorite stout at the moment.

I'll definitely have to track some down

Just about everything that Bell's Brewery has is fantastic. Two Hearted Ale is a classic, and maybe one of the first true craft beers.

Yes, they all are. You can call ahead and order, or email them. I tried to call Trim Tab last week and nobody answered though, so I just drove there and ordered at the table they had set up outside.
Trim Tab and Good People have been putting their available beers on their Instagram accounts. I'd imagine the others are as well.

I don't have Instagram. Does Trim Tab have anything new out?
I'm headed to Derk's in Montgomery right now for a beer run.

I doubt they have anything all that new hitting the shelves in Montgomery. Most of their new stuff is brewery only for a week or two, then certain beers hit the local markets. The Fudge Therapy stout was on the shelves at my Publix Saturday, and that's probably the newest beer on the market. Newest IPA I think was Helix Rising. Not sure if that one has hit any local stores. Pubix only had the Dripping Gold IPA which has been around for a couple of months now.
I'm kind of burned out on stouts so I haven't had the Fudge Therapy. Friend said he liked it better than their Cake Therapy(which I hated) and the Creme Brulee stout they did a few months ago. I liked the Creme Brulee one.
ETA - If you like West Coast style IPA's, Good People Hitchiker IPA is out and is one of my favorite Alabama beers. It's only released in the spring every year. Cool can design as well.

I got some Fudge Therapy from them last week. It was really good. The Cumulus Language of Thunder was even better.

Druid City Brewing's cans are starting to hit the market finally. Hop City has their porter and IPA as of today. The porter is one of my favorite beers brewed in Alabama, and the IPA is pretty strong as well.
Just picked up the Porter at Derk's.
A six pack of beer with a 9.2% ABV for $8.99?
They had a bunch of Yellow Belly too, but $13.99 for a single 12 ounce beer is nuts.

And they're incredibly smooth for a beer that big. It's about the only beer that really nails the right amount of vanilla adjuncts, IMO.
I haven't had a can of it yet, just draft at the brewery. From my understanding, Straight To Ale is actually brewing and canning it at their facility, so will be interesting to see if it maintains its character being brewed at a different facility.

Cake Therapy(which I hated)
Everyone I've talked to shares this opinion, and it usually comes up talking about Fudge Therapy too
I was gifted some for my birthday actually, and was super forgettable.
Almost got another Fudge Therapy 4 pack Friday, but doubled down on their 6th Birthday beer instead.
I'm trying to slide into sours and IPAs for the season, but I just got a new stout glass and it's still the "shiny new thing".

As many things as I think Trim Tab does well, their stouts generally miss the mark for me. Part of it is the adjuncts. Sometimes they use too much(cinnamon in Cake Therapy for example), others the stated flavors aren't really there(the Creme Brulee was good, but I didn't pick up much vanilla in it). I was in their Cellar Patron program last year, and all 4 patron bottles they gave us were flavored stouts. First 2 were a Cinnamon Roll stout that I couldn't even finish a bottle of because the cinnamon was so strong. The other 2 were rum barrel aged Oatmeal Cream Pie stout. It's not bad, but I really don't pick up any sweetness other than the rum.

I really love Breakfast Hero, and the first couple of batches of the Language of Thunder bottles/variances.
I do agree that some of the stouts released in the past year have missed the mark. They aren't bad, but nothing exceptional. Like you said, most of them are just too jam-packed with adjuncts.
My GF was able to grab a couple of crowlers of their small batch last week, and it was pretty amazing. Sour IPA with blueberry, passion fruit, key lime, almonds, and vanilla beans. Wish they would make a lot more of that.

I forgot about Breakfast Hero. That is a really well done stout.
I've only had one Language Of Thunder and maybe I got a bad bottle of it, but it was terrible. It was the coconut one from 2 years ago. I love coconut and stouts with coconut, but this was just way too much.

Just cracked my first Druid City porter.
Real, real nice.

I picked up a 4-pack today from Derk's on a whim. Never heard of the brewery, nothing. Can looked pretty neat and the ABV clocked in at a cool 11.8% so I figured why the hell not?
Holy shite. This beer is amazing.
It's a triple dry hopped New England IPA from Sixpoint Brewery called Atomic-Res.

Two hearted is my go-to beer at the moment. The Pig near me just starting stocking 12 packs which I had never seen before so I grabbed one.

Sixpoint makes some great beers. Resin DIPA is in my regular rotation, and for beach/pool drinking their Citrus Jammer is pretty good.
I did not like their Hi-Res IPA, but I'll look for that Atomic-Res.
