IMO even the pre game atmosphere sucked ... it was just eerily quiet and uninspired. I remember in years past people cheering during the pre game videos etc and now it’s just lethargic

We never get to play our home games at night anymore. Maybe 1 a year. Our conference games get picked up by CBS more often than not and our rent-a-wins are usually 11am kicks and those games would have shitty atmospheres even if they were 6 or 7pm kicks.

I know the administration loves to tout our big out of state enrollment and obviously the OOS tuition helps the university's bottom line but I think it's playing a huge part in the lack of real buy in and "love" for the football team and game atmosphere.

Over half of these kids are from California and New Jersey and Texas and Virginia. They didn't grow up singing "Rammer Jammer" and "Yay Alabama" and going to A-Day and going to the Quad loving Alabama.
That shite matters. They're there because it's the hot place to go to school and they go to the games for the party.

I know there are positives and change is inevitable but it's definitely changed the atmosphere.

Hell, I was an OOS student back in the day but my parents were from Alabama and I grew up driving from Florida with my dad to games and watching them on TV when they were on and listening to them on the radio when they weren't. I watched him cry when Bear died. To these students Bear is just the guy with the hat.

I was in first grade and had just gotten out of school and home when the announcement came on the tv. My mom was a wreck.

shite, I graduated from UA in 2010, and he died 5 years before I was born. At some point, all memories and impact starts to fade.

Yeah, that's normal but someone your age who grew up in Alabama is obviously going to know what he means to the university and the state as opposed to someone your age from California.

No one is saying the student's should be saying morning prayers to Bear's statue.

But let's not pretend that having a majority out of state student body isn't having an impact on the declining enthusiasm of the student section.

I was just using the Bear example as hyperbole.

My age, yes (I'm 31), but someone that's 12 years younger Is going to view it differently. Just like I'm sure he means more to you than he does to me, and he probably meant even more to your parents.

Most of it was because it was cold. I was there but I’m not a pussy either so I stayed lol.

I stayed the whole game, but lots of people left because of the cold. That and the fact everyone was sad Tua was out

Yeah the lack of Tua killed the crowd as well. I thought Josh Jacobs did awesome considering it was all the same play.

Yeah, it was more like 47 or 48 for a high, I think. Plus the breeze made it feel really cold.

Stop talking out of your arse. In the shade and with the wind, it sure as frick didn't feel 50, which is the only thing that mattered. And it just got colder as the sun went down.

You got the wrong kind of girl.

Nothing better than a post-victory celebration, ifyaknowwhatimean.
