what a dumbass comparison. WW2 veterans did that because they had to. Just like my friends in the Middle East fight in blistering heat today.

Going to a football game is purely for entertainment.

You're probably a baby boomer, so the only noise your generation makes at the game is complaining at the people in front of you to sit down.

Our fans do suck, but that's not new.

Couple of recruits in attendance:

Antoine Sampah -- “It was great, man. The atmosphere was crazy, like no other."

RJ Adams -- “It was electric. I had never seen nothing like it. Even going to Tennessee and other SEC schools, Bama stood out among all of them.”

Speaking of BDS, yet again they only showed about 2 total minutes of the Florida/USC game when there was literally nothing else going on.

The team, the assistants, the fans, Eli, and maybe even Saban did not want to be there last night. We were playing not to get hurt and to move on. MSST came to play football. It was a flat performance all the way around.

I take it back.
Quinnen and the defense wanted to play.

Awful. At LSU you get to see highlights of every SEC game and other top 25 games.

I used that comparison because today was Veterans day, but I guess that flew right over your head you stupid frick.

It's also comical to hear people saying they cant support the team because its too cold outside... when it's not even freezing out.

Its more than just entertainment at Alabama. If you dont know that I cant explain it to you.

Cold is not an excuse, especially since the wind chill was in the thirties. People up North sit through horrendous conditions just for the love of the team and the game. All you have to do is dress appropriately and enjoy. Guys if you cannot turn up for your team just 6 times a year and that too after paying huge prices for tickets; you are not a real fan.
What was the excuse earlier? Oh,it was too hot and too early!

When the girls in the short skirts ask if you “want to go back to your room?” the answer is and has always been yes.

Even back in the Shula era when you picked up your date on a cold day and she was dressed like that you knew you were holding a winning lottery ticket and it was just a question of when you’d get to cash it in.

I stayed until the game was well in hand and left early in the 4th quarter. I had already sat in the 35-45 degree weather for 5 hours. It was time to go.

too early!
That's one reason why I'm not going to this week's game.

It's only six games a year you should go Guru, especially if you are a student. That experience is extremely short lived but extremely memorable.

I'm not travelling 4 hours/day to see us play the Citadel, ULL, Arkansas St, etc. Especially not at 11AM or 6PM.

Nothing about a 50 point blowout is short lived, nor memorable.

I'll post my 2 cents

(1) The metal detector stuff has 100% effected pre-game atmosphere. A whole lot more people are filing in right as the band comes on the field because of the lines in the end zones to get in. I wouldn't say it's a "mess", but it is definitely not orderly and there isn't a good way to judge how long it will take you. We barely got inside in time for kickoff and I'm an a-hole about getting in early. It's an issue.

(2) I mean, Saturday was pretty much what I expected. We got off to a good start and everyone in the stadium in Crimson (except the defense) kind of relaxed. The game was never in doubt. I was a little pissed that 80% of the freshmen left at halftime, but at least it was just mostly the upper deck.

(3) It will be loud as fvck for Auburn.

And I agree with pville about 6 games or whatever. No thanks. With 2 kids in sports, a 3.5 hours drive and normal weekends being spent doing some work, I am not screwing up my next week and having my kids skip stuff to go see ULL or the Citadel. I'll try my best to sell or give my tickets to someone who will sit in my seat, but I'm not going over there for that.

The metal detector system in the south side is definitely a mess.

Yea I was trying to be nice. There are almost no barriers and no order. For the 1st time we skipped past it and went to the cemetery side and it was least orderly (yet very very long).

They gotta get that fixed.

To each his own bro. My experiences have been much different than yours.
Don't know how old you are but talk to me 25 yrs after graduation, you may have a divergent view then.
But I am mainly talking about the student experience here not so much about alumni.

Wasn't at the game, but the atmosphere didn't seem any different on TV than it does at most other SEC games. BDS really only gets amped for the LSU and Auburn games these days. It's been a pretty dull place since I first started going to games in the late 70's, so blaming it on current students isn't really fair.

8.5 years after graduation close enough?

Not when you mention the prices of tickets.
