Good moves by the Dolphins. Grab more draft ammo for the future and still get a WR1 at #6... hopefully Smith or Waddle. Let Chase go to Detroit...not one of our guys.

Lots of chatter about the 49ers moving up to #3 for Mac. Seems lofty, but then again, there's no QB in this draft I'd rather have had under center for Bama last season... including Lawrence. I just hope he goes to a good situation.

talking heads I heard yesterday said they moved up to take another QB, perhaps fields, but no one has mentioned Mac that high.

I am a huge Mac fan and it wouldnt hurt my feelings if he went to NE. Playing under two goats and the heir apparent to replace an AU "legend" would be great.

Most off the talking heads only believe 1- Lawrence, 2- Wilson, 3- Fields, 4- Lance, 5-Jones. It does not matter what kinds of offense the teams run, just how they feel the QBs are rated. And they are very stubborn about it. They are putting athleticism on a perch and honestly, after listening to a lot of coaches, athleticism is not as big of a factor ad they make it. Take Trey Lance for example. He will be no where near ready to contribute this year, and most likely will not be effective next year. He is a huge project, as in he played in a run heavy offense that was against weak competition, does not have experience with an nfl style offense, doesn't have great accuracy, but he is a very good runner. Quite a few if those talking heads feel he is a great fit for New England, because??. The Patriots are spending to win now, and if they draft a QB it will be one who can take over from Newton quickly as they know Newton is not the answer to their problem.

Most of then look at a list by position if how they rank players and plug the next person on the list into the draft slot, not caring about the fit. They pick Det to draft a WR, who is number one listed, Phil to draft a Wr, who is number two? And so on.

I personally don't think the 49ers are taking Mac at #3. Smokescreen leading up to the draft.

I think it'll be Carolina, New England or Chicago. The latter two might have to move up.

Could be a smokescreen. But it's pretty well a consensus at this point that Lawrence and Wilson are going 1-2, so there's not much need for a smokescreen unless you're looking to move back, and they just moved up.

The weird thing about Wilson is that he’s been so highly regarded yet if you watch his tape he has even more plays then Mac in which he’s throwing to wide open receivers under no pressure. That’s people’s biggest problem with Mac yet Wilson seems to get a pass because he’s athletic I guess?

He also played against largely shitty competition. Yes he also played with G5 players but his supporting cast was among the best in the G5 teams. So relative to their competition, his supporting cast was also pretty good. But he gets a pass somehow while Mac gets criticized for it.

The competition aspect also applies to Lance as well.

I guess theoretically the Jets could trade out of the #2 pick with a QB needy team and stick with Darnold... unlikely, but I guess it could happen.

I think the jets would be wise to do so. They would get a ridiculous haul.

I think Darnold had not really had a fair chance. The jets have a bad offensive line and bad receivers. And they haven't done anything to give Darnold any help since he's been there. Drafting another qb will not help their recievers or o line.

They should build off the chiefs playbook. Use your drafts to build your team, then after you have spent a couple years building defense and getting playmakers, then draft a qb. Don't get a qb first. By the time you get all the pieces around him he is demanding a 30 million/year contract and starts to hurt your salary cap.

Saw the article where Dylan apparently played most of the year with a torn meniscus. May explain a little bit of his lack of pursuit and timid play at times.

Mac is looking good at the second Pro Day. Smitty and Najee running routes.

Great analysis by Chizik too.

Just found out. It's a guy from Jacksonville State, so that's why we didn't recognize him.

quote:

Catching passes from Mac Jones today: WR DeVonta Smith, RB Najee Harris, TE Miller Forristall, TE Carl Tucker and Jacksonville State WR KJ Stepherson.

Smith, Harris and Stepherson are new from last week. No Jaylen Waddle in either workout.

Landon Dickerson doing cartwheels behind Mac during his interview was the highlight lol.

It's just clear how much these guys like each other up and down the roster...great future teammates for NFL organizations.

Daniel Jeremiah on NFL Network will crap all over Mac in a second, but he loves himself some Justin Fields. I like DJ, but he can be inconsistent sometimes.

It's just stubbornness. When you've been hyping someone for more than a year you tend to want to see yourself proven right.
