Hard to see Surtain not being first CB off of the board, especially as the one he is projecting to pass him up is a 2020 opt out from VT.

That’s garbage. No way the first Alabama comes off at 10.

ETA: if guys are still going to get drafted after opting out...at least over guys who showed up and competed, I think it starts a dangerous precedent. Squarely looking at Chase over Smith.

No way in hell the Dolphins pick Chase over Devonta or the Panthers taking Trey over Mac. Rhule loves Mac.

I don't honestly see Lance going in the top half of the first round. He appears to be very talented, but his level of competition was very poor and only had one game this year, which he didn't look that great as a passer (15/30 2 tds 1 int), but did very well rushing. Most scouting reports I have read agree that he has a really high ceiling, but also has the potential to be a bust. After 2019, he caught teams attention by bit throwing an int all year with 28 tds. I think the teams who are looking to draft a qb higher in the draft, except maybe Atlanta or Carolina, are wanting a player who can contribute quickly, vs a player who is probably at least one and could possibly be 2 years away from making a difference.

Is it too much to ask that my Dolphins grab Smith and Najee in the first (possibly moving down to get more picks) and then my man Landon in later rounds?

The guys on wjox said that Devonta made a statement yesterday that Mac was better last season than Tua was at Alabama.

Im not sure he said that exactly. A team asked him Tua or Mac and he quickly chose Mac. After the year her had, i would pick the same, but the question wasn't who is the better quarterback, just which would he pick.

With no combine, it's a toss up. Chase is like that old girlfriend that you remembered thinking she was hot, but when you run into her at the Waffle House, you realize you forgot about how much arm hair she had.

well after Mac won the Heisman for him, not sure how he could say anything else. He had the just about the most accurate QB in the history of college football throwing the ball to him.

Just saw this from CBS...

quote:

Round 1 - Pick 28
team logo
Mac Jones QB
ALABAMA • JR • 6'3" / 214 LBS
PROJECTED TEAM
New Orleans
PROSPECT RNK
23rd
POSITION RNK
5th
This would be an ideal landing spot for Jones, with Sean Payton and the established, quick-passing system.

PFF 1-Round Mock

6. Eagles - Mac Jones
7. Lions - Devonta Smith
10. Cowboys - Pat Surtain
16. Cardinals - Christian Barmore
20. Bears - Jaylen Waddle

Extended mocks have been limited so far. Here's a three-round mock posted by CBS Sports:

CBS Sports - 3 Round Mock

8. Panthers - Mac Jones
10. Cowboys - Pat Surtain
11. Giants - Jaylen Waddle
15. Patriots - Devonta Smith
20. Bears - Christian Barmore
24. Steelers - Najee Harris
----
45. Jaguars - Alex Leatherwood
----
82. Dolphins - Landon Dickerson
89. Lions - Dylan Moses

I can see Leatherwood, Dickerson, and Moses all being day two picks, but I don't think Leatherwood or Dickerson last as long as this mock has them.
