That's insanely big. We're talking 400+. But the coaches must have seen something from this dude if he was offered a scholarship.
370 is too big to play, but he's headed in the right direction. 340-350 would be a good playing weight for him. If he's lost that much, he will continue to lose more. Jaeden Roberts losing about 50 pounds is pretty crazy too. Nutrition staff is earning their paycheck.
Oatis is one of the rare kids to get a Bama offer as an 8th grader. And, more impressive than that is the offer remained all those years until he graduated. Saban likely knows this kid and his family better than any kid he's signed in recent years if not ever. I get the feeling Oatis will play this upcoming season. And, I don't think stars has anything to do with anything when it comes to Oatis. Saban likes Oatis and has liked him for a very long time and that makes him a 5 star in my mind.

I have a feeling Leary and/or Jojo will transfer out if Anderson keeps things up. And, I don't think they will be alone to transfer out. Off the top of my head I have to think Thiau Jones-Bell is on the clock too.

When Oatis arrived at Alabama, he was most likely pushing the 400-pound mark. On Alabama’s official roster, Oatis is listed at 370 pounds.

I think he started Amy's diet after signing with Alabama.. and came to Alabama under 400lbs.. and then continued...

It is hard to comprehend that last year was a rebuilding year. Those guys made it to the final stretch with that O Line, barely any RBs left, lucked out on a strategic transfer at WR, etc.
Just need a few key pieces for a really fun team this year.

If the OL & DL gel and we stay pretty healthy, we should be really good.

If we land Steen then the offensive line should be really good. Latham is going to be a star at right tackle. Will be interesting to see if Dalcourt can take the center position back once he gets healthy. McLaughlin is scrappy but undersized.

I think McLaughlin played better than Dalcourt last season.

What Nick has done with roster management is hard to overstate. Year in and year out.
Georgia finally built up to a death star last year, and did it with Stidham (although we’ve messed around with a few similar QBs). The lack of Clemson-like collapses are something I hope we all remember. As hard as that is in, say, the first half of last season :).

I'm not sure that is even debatable.

Listed at 6’4 295. Not undersized at all.

He's very similar to Anderson
I think Andersons size and physical nature will set him apart. Saw an interview where the guy interviewing him said something about how physically mature he is. If you look at his pictures you can tell he isnt the average slim skill guy.

Crimson Tide Quote of the Day:
“You boys were eight and ten years old last time Alabama was on top. That was before any of you were paying much attention to it. What are you doing here? Tell me why you are here. If you are not here to win a national championship, you're in the wrong place. You boys are special. I don't want my players to be like other students. I want special people. You can learn a lot on the football field that isn't taught in the home, the church, or the classroom. There are going to be days when you think you've got no more to give and then you're going to give plenty more. You are going to have pride and class. You are going to be very special. You are going to win the national championship for Alabama."
— Coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant during his first meeting with his first team at Alabama in 1958.

This one hits the spot
“The old lessons (work, self-discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, fighting to achieve) aren’t being taught by many people other than football coaches these days. The football coach has a captive audience and can teach these lessons because the communication lines between himself and his players are more wide open than between kids and parents. We better teach these lessons or else the country’s future population will be made up of a majority of crooks, drug addicts, or people on relief.”

That Death Star got a beat down in the SEC title game and was losing again till the 2nd of the 2 elite receivers not gone down. Even then, had the young receivers not dropped several balls, UA would probably have prevailed.
I'm fine with giving UGA credit. They played a good game, but UGA is certainly no Death Star.

Anderson is #82.
