There’s a pic of Slade in BamaTime Magazine that he wanted. Does anyone know how I would be able to get a digital copy for him? It’s at A Day and he has my grandfather’s name on his forearm that passed away soon after. Special pic to the family.

Since 2008, BamaOnLine.com's Instant Analysis has been a staple of Crimson Tide football coverage. That won't change in 2019, as we'll continue to provide Alabama fans with insight and interaction fresh from Tuscaloosa.

As for items we touched on during the latest edition of IA, they included:
* Absence of note and injury updates.
* Offensive line looks.
* Tight end pairings take shape.
* Young DBs offer promise for future.
* Tons of interaction in Q&A segment!

I'm so tired of injuries

I'm still getting downvotes from last time I mentioned the possible connection of Foot/Ankle injuries and footwear... well, I won't mention it again....Justin must have just been unfortunate to have a random foot injury???

Do you seriously think Bama is half-assing it on making sure their players are wearing the best available footwear in terms of safeguarding against foot injuries? Why do you think they wouldn't bother to make sure or would cut corners on such an important thing? It's a silly notion that gets repeated every time there's a foot injury. That's why you got downvotes.

ETA: Think about it rationally. Saban wants excellence in all aspects of the program. He leaves no stone unturned. Everyone on staff must always be on the lookout for ways to inprove everything. That's how he and Bama's program rolls. Huge corporations are competing to get their brand worn by teams. So they have competitive incentive to produce footwear for them that's the best. Again, it's a silly notion.

Then what is the answer? Is Bama Half-assing the S&C program and over stressing the athletes?... Is Bama half-assing the training staff and not taping correctly? Could it be that the shoes (that are tied to a shoe contract) could need tweaking? Surely, we can agree that there have been a huge number of foot and ankle injuries and there has to be a root cause that has not been found/addressed. Or is it the turf? or is it nutrition? or is it, just blind, dumb luck? Being solution oriented, I, for one, look for a causation and then recommend solutions...

Has Bama had lots of foot and ankle injuries that has caused many players to miss substantial time? or is this just the norm and since there is tons of interest in what happens in Tuscaloosa, it appears there are lots of injuries when there really aren't?

Asking for a friend open to most any opinion or solution

well i'll say it. bama is under contract with nike. nike shoes, like all their stuff, is made in a 3rd world hot shop by people making a dollar a day. what is the magical number of foot issues the players have to suffer before the light comes on. OH, IT MIGHT BE THE SHOES!

Then what is the answer?

The answer is this: When a 250 to 320-lb guy steps, falls or rolls up on another guy's foot it's fairly likley to get injured.

Shoes can't stop those unfortunate events from happening or protect the foot from injury in those situations, although taped ankles and high tops do reduce ankle injuries and their severity.

I doubt Bama's players are wearing football shoes that aren't state of the art. And I doubt Nike, Adidas, etc. aren't doing their very best to provide their contracted college and pro team customers with the best shoes money can buy.

Sheesh!

I’m curious as to what lifts help strengthen feet and thus lead to less foot injuries.

I bet all available technologies are carefully examined, selected and put to proper use at Bama. I bet no stone is left unturned.

You might be onto something. Nike has great marketing but when it comes to quality of materials they use in their apparel and footwear they are far from the best.

The problem with blaming Nike is that as of May 2018, Nike outfits 52.8% of all FBS teams and 64.6% of P5 teams. The only way Nike's at fault is if all/most of those teams are having similar injury luck, which they are not.

Also, Nike has outfitted every single team whose ever made the CFB playoffs except ND.

I hope we can put this bitching and blaming Nike shite to rest. It's pure stupidity. Injuries are nearly 100% just bad luck.

You mean like EVERY SINGLE OTHER ATHLETIC SHOE on the market today?

Are the Nike 3rd world hot shops somehow hotter than the Under Armor and Adidas ones? Maybe they have a particularly bad shop to make the defective shoes for Bama and send the good ones to Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt since they're apparently also Nike schools in the SEC?

I swear some of y'all make Alex Jones look rational.

There is a vast (you pick) wing conspiracy to keep Nick Saban and Alabama from winning. There are people who have gotten close to the program and are sleepers... just when Bama seems to be getting to the moment, they are "woke" and begin to sand down a couple of cleats from players' shoes, put pukey juice in the gator ade of others and then spread rumors to make still others start looking at the portal... I blame … well, I am withholding the name until I get more evidence
