The only complaint I had was not turning Mac loose. I understand Bryce needs reps but it’s the greedy side of me to see what kinda of numbers Mac can put up. Easily 400+ was at hand last night

Najee was impressive last night. You can definitely tell he put in the work this offseason. Hes always been good but he just looked like a different kind of animal last night against a pretty damn stingy defense that didnt leave many open lanes.

Really? What are the complaints? I thought we played a really solid game last night when a lot of other teams were looking downright sloppy.

Without looking, I'm going to assume the garbage points.

They scored a TD on the last play of the game when down 25. Really, really struggling to find a reason to care.

I've seen quite a few "fire golding" "our defense sucks" "we didnt blow out an below average Mizzou team" posts. Not as bad today on this board, but last night was pretty bad. BOL is unreadable

Sure, but this year for certain having a backup ready is so much more important. If he keeps playing like he did last night, Mac will get his.

Looked faster(acceleration and top end). ..more fluid, not the head bobbing style of running in prior yrs

There was that one ankle tackle where i thought , he looks so much faster now that I don't think b they could have caught him with out that hanging on for dear life tackle

I saw a 1st team that came out and destroyed a decent Missou team on both sides of the ball. Then we started mixing in the young guys and things fell off a little bit.

IMO, the reason for that is simple and CNS alluded to it in his presser last night. We need to develop depth. With no spring, I suspect the 1’s got an inordinate amount of snaps on practice to make sure they were ready. As a result, the 2’s are behind the curve. I expect that will be addressed now that we see the 1’s are well prepared but tge 2’s need work. They will get more in practice and games to even things out.

I really liked what I saw most of the time last night. Auburn will be in the mix in the west, and State is one to keep an eye on. Ole Miss is just good enough to play spoiler and be a pain in the arse. A&M looks to have work to do and LSU was awful. Arkansas still has a long way to go. Florida looks like the team to beat in the east with UGA and UT chasing them. Missou and Kentucky are the middle tier. Carolina and Vandy are the cellar dwellars.

What you said about building depth and the potency of the 1s was dead on. We have a very good team on both sides of the ball.

Old saying, teams improve the most between weeks one and two. We gone be good.

Yep. I mentioned last week that one of my biggest questions was whether Saban would put the backups in earlier than late Q4 mopup for the sake of developing depth. He did. Now they've gotten some worthwhile experience and we've got some good game film to show what our backups need to focus/work on improving.

We seem to put in backup’s quicker than normal at least QB. In the past Saban would put the QB 2 in with two minutes to go which drove me nuts.

Mac and Najee came out in the 3rd. The other subs were later, if at all.

I’m surprised Ziggy isn’t on any special teams.

When the game ended, I didn't feel great about things. I went back a rewatched the game and came away feeling much better. Bama jumped to a 35-3 lead early in the 3rd, and let off the gas. We started subbing in back-ups and the intensity from our guys understandably dipped because the game was over.

Mac and Najee both looked great, as did our whole 1st team offense. That Mizzou defense is a top 4 or 5 defense in the SEC as well, so they weren't doing it against a garbage defense like Arky or Vandy. 1st team D looked solid, although I wanted to see more disruption from our DL. Hopefully we get Barmore healthy soon.

Now for the bad after review. Our back-ups on both sides of the ball looked pretty bad. No way around that. Brian Robinson and Trey Sanders flat out looked in over their heads. Really makes me wish K. Rob had stayed, I think he'd honestly be our 2nd best back right now and compliment Najee super well. Oh well. Also, the new punter looks very very average. Hard to believe we can't find a kid who can kick the damn ball 40 yards consistently. All that said, I think Alabama is positioned as well as anyone to make a run for all the marbles.
