BOL poster: "I spoke to a HS asst not long ago who said Saban asked Xavian Sorey (recruit) if he knew who Bobby Bowden was. Sorey said yes, and Saban asked if he knew how old Bowden was (80) when he retired, then said I'm looking to smash that."

University of Alabama self-reports six minor NCAA violations (BamaOnLine)
quote:

The University of Alabama’s athletic department self-reported six separate minor NCAA violations between Levels 3 & 4 from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020, according to a violations summary posted on the school’s athletics website late Thursday afternoon.

The Crimson Tide football team, however, only self-reported one violation. . .

Landon Dickerson is way more important than #10! That kid is the truth! I can see him being a top 5 NFL draft pick.

The most important thing Dickerson can do is to quit getting dumb arse penalties for being a cheap shot artist.

I am becoming more pessimistic about football as time passes.

Hard to see how they can get this thing under control enough in time for the season. Hope I am totally wrong.

I’m watching last season’s Tennessee game, and it was a mess. We looked terrible. We also had players dropping like flies

Appears the Ivy League will be the first domino tomorrow. Most think they will kick the can, and postpone the season until Spring, and that will make it easier for other college presidents to do the same.

Too many problems with spring football for major programs.

Ivy League doesn't have those problems.

Yeah I don’t really see how spring football would work. They would go from spring football straight into summer workouts, then fall practice and another season?

Yeah, and last time I checked, Harvard wasn't pulling down $100 million in sports revenue. It won't affect them greatly. There is tremendous pressure to have a season in the fall as best we can. If not, college athletic programs will be bankrupt at all but the highest levels. That doesn't include the economic and social damage to the schools, the communities, etc. I don't envy the people making decisions because we don't have any good options, only bad and worse choices.

Yea, unlike basketball, I don't see the Ivy having any impact on P5 conferences. Ivy football just isn't comparable on any level to the SEC or the B1G - economics, roster makeup, direct tie ins to the NFL/NFL Draft, etc.

If we have spring football u will see a huge number of high profile junior seniors skip the season in order to have their bodies ready for the combine & draft.Bama would probably have quite a few difference makers to pass on the season even if the combine & draft were pushed back to a later date.

If they play in the spring it is 100% just a way for them to try and make at least a little bit of money. So many players wouldn't play that it would be almost like an exhibition season.

I wouldn't hate it, it would be different, but there is no way it would be more 7-8 games due to the calendar and the number of players on rosters.

Cecil Hurt disagrees with this. Said people scoff at this, but it will have an impact.
