Talking about USC, it's interesting that they've been a good Oline away from being great football team for at least 3 years. Being continuously bad at that particular position group can sink an entire program. FSU has had the same disease for years and will again in 2020. Auburn had it a couple years ago, and I think they'll be epically bad at the position this year. It should make Morris' first year an interesting one.
Thankfully, we ought to have a fairly nasty Oline unit. Or at least I really hope so.

Four downvotes for simple football talk.
They're some dedicated petty bitches around here, I know that. Dedicated. Petty. Bitches.

USC's last 5 recruiting classes ranked 8th, 4th, 4th, 20th, and 55th. That is 2015-16 up through 2019-20. Ouch!

2021 recruiting class rankings:
Ohio St #1 with 15 commits.
USC #11 with 6 commits.
Bama #58 with 1 commit.

Don't get me wrong, Phil - I'm not touting USC as a great team. I simply relayed what some national pundits had said. I also think CFB is better if USC, or a few teams out west, are actually good. My point is that I hope USC shows up and is a worthy foe.
The last thing I want is for us to get the big head after housing a mediocre big-name team. I've seen that movie, and it ends badly in November or December.
I'd love nothing more than Alabama winning a dogfight versus a legitimately good USC team. As they say, it's 'trial by fire', bit 'trial by butter'.

Don’t really pay attention to most post but anyone who complains about down votes is well, dedicated petty BIA!
PS, I am not one of your downvotes.

Wasn't complaining. I've long maintained that the up- and downvote buttons mean less than nothing - words are the only thing that matter on this or any forum. I was expressing legitimate surprise at how some folks choose to spend their time, i.e. making sure to downvote everything I post. It actually adds up to a lot of time for those folks. I'm sad they'd choose to live that way - life is short, man. But my fans are gonna do what my fans do, and I have to respect the dedication. Letting me live rent-free in their minds like that. It's astounding. (There's actually a decent chance someone is using alters to do it multiple times, which is maximum sad.)

No worries if you were.
Now if you have any football to discuss, I'm happy to shoot the breeze. Do you have any opinion on the many pundits who are picking FL to dethrone GA atop the East this year, basing it on what FL returns and what GA lost on offense?

Surge, is there an explanation for Bama's low number of commits, and is it a reason for concern? I'm reading it as just a random anomaly and not a big deal, but what do you think of it?
This is an excellent question. It makes me wonder if we were waiting on camps or visits or whatever.

I wonder if Saban is purposefully drawing these evaluations out in order to lower the number of recent recruiting misses, assuming he believes we missed more than normal in spots of late. Saban has long said to his on-the-road recruiters that if they offer a recruit for real and the recruit commits, we have to honor it and keep that player. I wonder if he's crossing his t's and dotting his lower case j's more thoroughly, especially if it's true that he is trying to get back to taking only high-character guys. It makes sense, actually.

I really don't know why Bama didn't already have a few more commits before the coronavirus hit and in-person recruiting got suspended. Pretty hard to reach the point of commitment in this situation. Recruiters can't go to high schools to evaluate recruits or have them on campus for Bama to evaluate them and for them to see and feel what Bama is like. The recruits are as frustrated as the recruiters are that they can't visit colleges. Hopefully, they'll be able to visit and camp in June.

This is certainly true, but our numbers were way below normal and way below the other usual suspects months ago before COVID-19 was even a thing.

I rarely ever click on that board anymore. Hardly anything on there is worth reading.

Evaluating Mac Jones, a loaded WR draft class and more idle college football thoughts (espn)
Alabama QB Mac Jones completed 69% of his passes with a 186.8 passer rating last season.

Who really is the now reigning "Running Back U"? Sport's Illustrated said it best and as far as Me and Grandpa, we believe. Just the numbers.
