ESPN panel all said FSU, Oregon, and Texas are in over Bama if all win out (Michigan Washington and Ohio St too obviously). Committee is showing they agree.
In no shape, form or fashion should a 12-1 Oregon deserve to be in over a 12-1 Alabama that would've just ended Georgia's 29 game winning streak.

You could tell McElroy thinks it’s bullshite. Said Oregon’s resume was way below Texas and Alabama. But he equivocated and said Oregon has looked better more consistently.

UTx is holding Bama back.
Texas has the best SOS and SOR among the one loss teams, including the win over Bama. It seems the committee hates UTx.
Oregon is an eye test only vote, and its well deserved. They've looked really good.
UTx is losing the eye test measurable, but it has a much better resume.
The committee can't put Bama over UTx, but they can err on the eye test for Oregon over UTx.
If UTx was a two-loss team, I think Bama is ahead of Oregon based on their resume and where the team is now.
All that said, Bama has a dangerous game at JHS and is the clear #1 in the SEC CG, so the CFP committee is in an excellent place to hedge now with 6-8, as is.
It's not Bama hate; it's just how the variables of how the season have developed
A UTx or FSU loss over the next two weeks and Bama winning puts the Tide back in the CFPs.
If it doesn't play out, it doesn't take away from what has been an entertaining team at Bama to watch develop.

Which, it turns out, is a lot easier to do with an easy schedule. Leaving the SEC out of a 4 team playoff is absurd. Michigan and Ohio State are artificially inflated just like Oregon. They play in a shite conference.
It almost always works itself out, but we’re running out of time. I don’t see FSU losing even with the backup. He’s serviceable and Louisville isn’t a great team. Don’t see Texas losing either.
If we’re left out Byrne should go ahead and just buy out every non conference P5 opponent and say frick if we’ll play Chattanooga, Mercer, North Texas, and UTEP every year. It would be a ridiculous precedent. This committee is a clown show though so I expect it.

The committee is already setting the stage for it.

Bama if they beat Georgia would hold every metric the committee claims they use to compare teams. I think Bama would be in over Oregon or they would be willfully ignoring SOS, ranked wins, highest win, ranked loss.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. There is no reason to schedule a P5 opponent OOC.

They’re already doing that with Oregon over UTa and Alabama.

I’m not saying that won’t happen but I want to see it happen, esp if we beat UGa convincingly. (7-10 plus points).
I honestly want to see their little circle jerk on ESPn rationalize keeping an 11-1 SEC champ out of the playoff. A team that beat the #12, 14, and 21st ranked teams as well as the undefeated, back-to-back national champion. Especially what happened with TCU last year. Not all conferences are equal.
I just have to see it to believe it.

At this point I attribute that to a holding pattern because it really doesn’t matter until after championship week. They know the shuffle is coming and maybe some of them don’t want to realize it but if Bama wins against UGA we are coming and bringing hell with us.

And they will ignore all of it.
Let's be honest here. No matter how it shakes out, the playoff will be this:
Pac12
Big10
Big12
Whoever else. If Georgia wins, that's SEC. If Georgia loses, that's probably ACC.
The win-loss count doesn't matter. The Strength of Schedule doesn't matter. It never has. The committee wants a specific playoff, and they'll get it. We saw that last year with TCU.

Well we need losses if that’s the case. I’d think FSU is the best chance, Texas second.

quote:depends on how the rest of the PAC 12 plays out cause of their system, but if Oregon and Washington end up with the 2 best league records they will play each other again, so either Washington is going to have a loss or Oregon is going to have 2, or maybe Oregon State takes out Oregon. Still possibilities

The PAC 12 is in regardless. Media is in love with both Oregon and Washington. Idk how you guys can’t see that. Media all thinks Oregon is the best team by the eye test and they have proclaimed the PAC 12 the deepest conference all season. Have to hope either Texas or Florida St. lose. I think it’s a very good probability Florida St. loses to Louisville.

Agreed. I think I'd rather UW win the P12 just to be sure they don't keep both teams ahead of us.

Florida's starting QB is out too.
