northern bias

There is no doubt there is Big 10 bias in that committee. And Big 10 bias means new Big 10 Oregon and Washington too. Makes me wish football had NET rankings like basketball, where Bama would have 5 Quad 1 wins, but Michigan would have none. Oregon would have 1.

I agree, they need to factor in scheduling. Why doesn’t football already do it like this?

We are six ahead of Oregon and Texas.

Sources say…
quote:

Linebacker Deontae Lawson (ankle), safety Jaylen Key (quad) and wide receiver Ja'Corey Brooks (shoulder) will all miss Saturday's game at Kentucky, sources tell BamaCentral.

Lawson, Key and Brooks have all been held out of practice this week. On Wednesday, head coach Nick Saban updated the status of Lawson and Key.

"They haven’t been able to practice yet," Saban said. "It’s still kind of day-to-day. If guys can’t practice on Thursday, it’s pretty tough for them to [play] in the game. We’ll learn more tomorrow."

Instead of waiting until tomorrow, sources confirmed to BamaCentral on Wednesday evening that all three will be out against the Wildcats (6-3, 3-3 SEC).

Pope made some nice plays during A-Day.

Story looked shaky the few times he's played.

Will Pope get any PT this year?

I dunno. OK State QB has some stuff going on he is pretty damn good. I think with Texas not having a starting QB this is trouble for them.

Terrible news. Especially when we’re about to face the best running back we’ve seen this season. Would Jihad, or Blackshire get the start for Lawson? Anyone know?

I’m excited to see Pope get some PT, but I don’t think it’ll happen this year. Story is a great athlete. He’s going to be fine

Jihad will start for Lawson.

He has been impressive so far.

I’m worried a bit about this game because Kentucky will get a defense missing some of the middle defenders and their defense seems well suited to giving Milroe trouble. Lots of zone. Emphasis on making QBs throw underneath and being patient.

Not picking a loss or anything. Just likely going to be an uncomfortable start to the morning.

You know we have Campbell? He has done hell of a job stepping in for Lawson.

Big Jihaad fan. Hoping this is an opportunity to show he can hold up against the run in heavier personnel. That seems to be what kept him off the field some earlier in the season.

I’d argue all three (Lawson/Campbell/Marshall) are high level SEC starters.

Trez seems like a good fit for the physicality UK will bring, but even when we bring in Blackshire I’m not too worried.

Story at safety? That’s a whole different deal. He might as well be wearing a big bullseye on his chest because he’s been the culprit for a number of negative plays when he’s gotten snaps. Let’s hope that changes or we go with other packages against the wildcats.

Lou Groza

I think it has to be a lock. It's not a career award, but when you are the NCAA all-time leading scorer for a PK and 3rd overall (real shot to be #1 by the end of SEC CG: 5 FGs and 13 XPs over 4 games will tie-it, which seems attainable), it becomes a voting factor.
