Burton has had a 45+ yard catch in every game except USF. He’s basically been at least one of our two or three big passing plays every game. He has nearly double the yardage as the second best receiver on the team and leads in receiving yards/touchdowns. He’s 25% of Milroe’s completions and 30% of his yardage
Considering the clown fiesta we have in the quarterback room he’s certainly putting out

quote:IMO, it doesn't matter if you "can back it up", that's subjective anyway. The question is: Does it hurt the team, i.e., are penalties assessed? LD helped cost Alabama the 2019 LSU game with a stupid and key personal foul penalty just before the half that helped LSU score a TD rather than a FG. That 4 points mattered in that game. Not that it was the "reason" Alabama lost, there were many other plays in the game, but it gave LSU 4 points and greater momentum going into the half. That is one case where a player's "fire/enthusiasm/lack of self-control/etc." actually cost points and gave greater momentum to the other team in a close game that was ultimately lost.
It’d be cool if Burton put out and was a game changer like Landon D, Jamo, and maybe Dre K. But, he’s not. That doesn’t stop him from running that mouth and always being a hair away from costing us 15. He makes plays but he’s no game changer.
I don't remember there being the outrage re: LD that has been provoked by JB for behavior that has been less impactful. It's certainly not present today. I personally don't like the reckless behavior of either, though I appreciate the hard work and contributions of both.

Burton is tied for the national lead in plays over 40+ yards with 6. So pretty much one a game since he didn't really play against MSU.

Saban and Rees know that Proctor is a liability so if they are putting him out there against a strong UT front, I have to assume that they have a plan to help him.

It is what it is at this point. Neither Proctor or Pritchett are there yet. And shifting Latham just creates more issues.

I can't believe you guys have spent the last 5 pages arguing about shite talking in football.
Newsflash for you fellas, shite talking has been a part of sports since sports were invented. The issue here is that shite talking is an artform and Burton isn't very good at it.
The best shite talkers were so subtle about it you barely notice it's happening. Larry Bird is case in point. Biggest shite talker in the history of the NBA but most fans never noticed anything.
Burton is clearly the best offensive weapon we have at this point. The numbers simply do not lie. If Milroe could look at more than one receiver (certainly not all his fault) then Burton's numbers would probably be downright gaudy.
I don't know anything about him slapping a fan but if that happens then he deserves to be punished for it.

He slapped a girl when fans rushed the field at Tennessee last year.
