Is there any way I can blame Holden for this one, just 'cause?

Nick Marshall was a RPO wizard when it came to running.

Tua is the best ive ever seen at throwing out of the RPO.

This was what I had hoped we might be able to look like this year. Just be so good up front, have such good in between the tackle runners and a track star QB with a good deep ball that we'd just stress the D so much it would open everything up.

But our track star QB apparently can't decided when to hand off or run

It seems very easy to gain admittance to this board, but I'm wondering how much endless, garbage, nonconstructive criticism you can heap on literally every part of the program before just being deemed a troll and getting banned. I know the mods don't like to make a habit of it, but come on. Spamming every thread with Shaft's bull shite that adds literally nothing to the discussion has to warrant something.

Tidesaint and I moderate this board along with one silent mod.

We try not to make it a habit of banning people for opinions. The word troll gets used a lot. I know Shaft. He is just a passionate who wants to win and keeps telling us the issues with the team which, is within the guidelines of the board. If you don’t like it, leave the board and you won’t have to see it. I am not banning Shaft for his opinion. If he makes personal attacks then I will. Same for anyone.

I think we are all a little tired of the negativity, not just from Shaft either.

People are passionate about Alabama football. I get it.

But if you can't enjoy the games then what the frick is the point?

We literally just beat an Ole Miss squad, holding them to 10 points, that just arse raped LSU for 700 yards of offense and put 55 points on the board.

I go through people's posts all the time. The obvious trolls are easy to spot and dealt with accordingly. The grey area comes with someone who is legit just frustrated with the play of the team and they melt over it, sometimes for days on end.

Just enjoy the ride, people. We win tomorrow and we've taken a huge step towards winning the West. There's no point bitching about it today.

I don't understand why the RPO thing either is still a huge issue for Jalen or the coaches are so scared to let him do it.

You have to be able to read a defense in order to run the RPO.

Not necessarily. You can base your RPO on keys, for instance a specific player moving in an area or outside it.

Reading a defense is being able to tell pre-snap what their coverage is (and knowing where you are going with the ball) and after the snap knowing where to go with the ball even if they change the coverage or combo it post-snap.

I also think we struggle with WR screens because our perimeter blocking so far has been atrocious. It's also tough for the RBs to break longer runs without downfield blocking from the WRs/TEs.

I think this is something really holding back our offense. We’ve missed out on several long plays b/c of a inconsistent blocking on the perimeter. Makes you appreciate what we had in JJ, Smitty, Ruggs, Waddle as blocking receivers. That group went into attack mode blocking once the ball was thrown, which led to a lot of long plays.

Hopefully the outside guys continue to improve in that area as the season goes on.

If they do resolve this, I think we’ll see Jase and company break some long runs. And hopefully the quick screens will be more effective.

I watched the CFB Nerds preview of the game and they mention that they believe Rees was purposely hamstringing the offense for Milroe to work on things he’s not good at. Do you all think that is true and maybe that’s why we haven’t seen RPOs the past couple of games?

Because he can’t make even the short RPO reads fast enough to run the offense effectively.
