It really comes down to a handful of plays where the OL was just a swinging gate, and the QB missed the guys that were open.

Obviously, the defense needs to improve, but there was never a huge breakdown where guys are just totally lost, it was more of a death by a thousand cuts, and the offense repeatedly putting them in a bad spot.

The Saban from years prior would have fired these guys much faster. He wouldn't have stood for this. The more sifter version who seems to really want well for these guys is showing patience and hoping they turn the corner

Today's world is completely different from 2013. The game AND the players. Saban, like Bryant is a master at adapting.

too much anxiety

You know what creates anxiety?

Lack of preparation. If you are prepared, if you put the work in .. You aren't anxious because you are ready for the event/ outcome.

Minus our turnovers, we probably hold a good Sark offense in the 20's. I won't panic about that.

The offense needs to get better pretty much everywhere. But, after a week of retrospect, I think it's mostly fixable. Will it get fixed? I don't know. I think Milroe has all the tools, but I don't know if he will ever process everything at game speed, despite being a smart kid. Instincts and smarts aren't the same thing. It sounds like Buchner is the next option. My only concern with him is he seems almost like a clone of Milroe, with the same strengths and weaknesses. In my perfect world, Simpson (who I predicted to be the eventual starter back in the spring) would take the bull by the horns and win the job and the team. But, he may not have it in him either. I guess we'll see what happens.

And the oline needs to man the frick up.

If our offense was effective, the quick game throwing would’ve been nullified by their need to chase points. Our offense contributed to some but not all of the defense’s problems.

the definition of insanity. guys are dealing with anxiety, yet you keep trotting them out on the field expecting it to get fixed.

identify who has anxiety issues and sit them down. or not, just keep repeating the same mistakes and using the same excuse.

Kind of scratching my head on if it is a good thing or bad.

I mean, if you trust Buchner to move the offense up and down the field then why take him out inside the red zone?

This makes no sense to me. A shorter field does not help Jalen.

Saban thinking we can utilize Milroes running inside the red zone. Similar to what hurts does in the pros.

Won't work if you can't be a threat to pass accurately.

Similar to Auburn, we simply have no good quarterbacks.

This is very concerning. It’s as if Saban just can’t let go of the fact that Milroe at QB severely limits the offense, no matter where they are on the field. If you want to play him at RB, slot receiver, etc. along with Buchner in the red zone, I’m fine with that. But unless they are thinking about using him like Mark Ingram in the “Wild Cat,” Milroe doesn’t need to be under center anymore this season (except in mop up time, of course).

They aren’t going to play Milroe. Like at all. He is getting the easy letdown by the coaches. They are keeping his confidence, hopes and work ethic running while they work Buchner into the full time starting role, because if Buchner got hurt, they might need Milroe again. It is also possible that they are running a red zone package for Milroe for a “break glass” scenario where we can’t score in the red zone against a team for some reason.

Jalen is effectively done. It is Bichner’s show now.
