Wild guess on my part but...
I think Saban is expecting one or two of the top 3 guys to say "I'm out" over the next 6 weeks. Time to get Lonergan ready to fly at QB #2 or #3 by the 5th week of the season.

Twist. You think they’ve got another week before they decide on who they players are going to be? I thought they tried to get at least two weeks of practice with the guys they’ve decided upon.

Kind of an outlier question for those in attendance. Did you guys see Jake pope out there at all? He balled out at ADay. Seemed like he might have at least a special teams impact.

Today the players picked who among them will be the top 50 players. Between now and Monday afternoon, the coaches will determine who the top "administrative group" will be. By Wednesday evening the coaches will have the player packages segmented. By Friday, the coaches will have chosen who adds to the top 50 to round out special teams and set the week 1 travel squad of 70.
The following week is game plan install for week 1.
