I think means Petty must be at least leaning towards leaving. It’s getting a little late to be processing guys.

I would say he's definitely leaning towards not coming back next year. Otherwise he would have pulled his name out of the draft by now. The question is just how hard is he leaning that way. Obviously he isn't completely sold on leaving or he would have hired an agent. I think he wants to be able to work out for teams because he is borderline between late 2nd round and undrafted and needs to get one or two teams to fall in love with him, but because he can't right now he's just sort of in a holding pattern. It sucks for him and it sucks for our staff, because they are going to have to plan for two different roster construction scenarios well into June when in a typical year you know who is staying and who is going by mid-April.

Does it benefit Petty in any way to pull his name out of the draft at this point?
It would certainly help us out (by that I mean roster management) if he would commit one way or another, but I’m not sure I see a rationale for Petty when it comes to his own self-interest.

Straight bullshite. Why didn’t Quinerly get one last season?

That’s not what I meant - I just meant why would he pull his name out of the draft now.
It was more of a response to the idea that he’s leaning towards staying in the draft because he hasn’t pulled out of it (which may be true), when it may be that he’s just keeping his options open and seeing how things continue to play out (which is probably the best move for him).
I think there’s a good argument that he should stay in school and try to refine his ball handling and passing (and show that his 3 point shooting this year wasn’t fluky).

Our bad luck is rubbing off on them, all they had to do was agree to a home and home with us and the injuries are already starting.

I agree, makes no sense to pull his name out now when he is just now able to do workouts for teams. It will probably be another month or more before he makes a decision on whether to come back or not.

When are we supposed to get our whole schedule released? Has there been any word of it yet?

No, not that I have seen. Just a handful of non conference games so far.

In an interview a few weeks ago, Oats said it’d be released in a couple weeks I think. So could be any day now. BUT I feel like every year they say “a couple weeks” and then it’s announced like 2 months later

My understanding is that Johnny Juzang argued he transferred to UCLA because he wanted to be home in LA with family during a pandemic. Waiver approved. So I’d say that’s a good sign for anybody also transferring home — but that it likely doesn’t mean much for those who aren’t.

Most waivers are gonna get approved with this corona stuff going on I assume. Nike could get one if he wanted, but he said he doesn't want one and wants to sit out this year, which is probably better for us, we will need him more next year.

I haven't had a chance to listen but Torres said he addresses Petty coming back at the end of the interview. What did he say?

No update from Oats really.
They're still doing interviews and getting information.
Really thinks Herb comes back.
Petty "really has a decision to make, kind of all over from mid 2nd to undrafted. I don't know when we'll know on him."
