I’m lovin’ Coach Oats. I really wish Donta Hall was still around though - they could play some One on One. It would Make my Dreams come true. I'll just Say It Isn't So and move on, I'm kinda Out of Touch.

Three Man Weave ranked every coach in college basketball- Nate Oats is #43 overall and #6 in the SEC.

John Calipari (14)
Bruce Pearl (16)
Eric Musselman (18)
Will Wade (31)
Ben Howland (41)
Nate Oats (43)
Rick Barnes (50)
Buzz Williams (60)
Kermit Davis (68)
Frank Martin (71)
Cuonzo Martin (79)
Mike White (132)
Tom Crean (139)
Jerry Stackhouse (320)

Anthony Grany is #121.
Mark Gottfried is #148.
Poor Grant.

I have a feeling had we played the tournament, he would be a lot higher in these types of rankings, and he should be a lot higher anyways.

Just for fun, rank our players next season #1 - #13 based on who you think will be our best player down to our worst player. Don’t count Kira or Petty. The catch is, we have 14 players currently. So, at the bottom, also list the player you anticipate not being on the team next season...

My List...

1. Jaden Shackelford
2. Jahvon Quinerly
3. Herbert Jones
4. Joshua Primo
5. Jordan Bruner
6. Juwan Gary
7. Keon Ellis
8. James Rojas
9. Keon Ambrose-Hylton (will be great at Bama one day, but will have ups & downs this season)
10. Javian Davis
11. Darius Miles (will be great at Bama one day, but needs a little experience/weight room)
12. Jaylen Forbes
13. Alex Reese
Cut: Galin Smith

If Petty returns he is #1 and everyone moves down a spot

(!. Petty)
2. Bruner
3. Herb
4. Shack
5. JQ
6. Primo

7. Rojas
8. Ellis
9. Reese
10. Gary
11. Ambrose
12. Miles
(13. Javian)

14. Forbes
15. Galin

Hope all the transfers/new players all end up higher and definitely think some will but Bruner is the only one that really has a strong enough track record against high level competition for now.

Also put Javian in parenthesis due to rumors that he may be lower on Oats' list.

I would also like to add a grad-transfer PG if we can (Forbes would be cut).

Petty would be #1 if he returns

1. Bruner
2. Jones
3. Quinerly
4. Shackelford
5. Rojas
6. Primo
7. Ellis
8. Gary
9. Reese
10. Davis
11. Smith
12. Ambrose-Hylton
13. Miles

Starters:
PG: JQ
G: Shack
G/F: Herb
F: Rojas
F: Bruner

Primo (1-3) and Ellis (1-3) heavy minutes off the bench unless they prove they can't shoot at this level. Gary first 3-4 off the bench, Reese first big off bench with quick hook if shooting is off.

Great flexibility since most can easily play multiple positions.

Miles will most likely RS.

Gone: Forbes and maybe Davis unless he changes attitude (all based on Harper's posts)

There may be times where Bama goes big:
G: Primo 6'4"
G: Ellis 6'5"
G: Herb 6'7"
F: Rojas 6'8"
F: Bruner 6'9"
Could be a tough defensive team with the 3 "bigs" having a rep for toughness and D. Don't know about Primo or Ellis.

Or small:
PG: JQ
G: Shack
G: Primo
G: Ellis
F: Herb
Could be tough defensively in different way.

Both of those lineups should have plenty of ball-handling and firepower.

Incredibly versatile team with all 3 versions easily being able to play D, handle the ball, shoot and score. There should always be one or more matchups per opponent that will be an advantage for Bama. And Oats should be able to identify it.

We know that things will not develop as we imagine but Bama fans are tempted to salivate.

I think I would have JQ number 1, no matter what. You have to have a point guard.

Yeah, that’s a pretty shitty ranking. Ben Howland being that high is purely based on things that happened over 10 years ago. Meanwhile having Buzz Williams and Rick Barnes that low is purely based off of last year. Like what the Hell is their criteria.

Twitter response to that image (not mine)

@BamaRoundball

This is a good way to emphasize the difference between per game stats vs. tempo free. Alabama was 1st in the conference in defensive rebounds per game, but 12th in the conference in actual DR%. Lots of room for improvement there.
