Colby Shelton Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Shelton finished with seven total hits last week, six of which went for extra bases including five home runs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama infielder Colby Shelton was selected as the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The recognition is the first of Shelton's career and the Crimson Tide's first during the 2023 season.

Roadtrip to Samford Highlights Pair of Midweeks for Baseball

The Crimson Tide will travel to Birmingham on Tuesday before hosting Alabama State Wednesday

Alabama baseball will take to the road for the first time this season, traveling to Samford on Tuesday evening. The Crimson Tide will then return home to Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Wednesday for a matchup with Alabama State. Both contests are scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch. Fans can catch the pairing with the Bulldogs on ESPN+ with the Tide's home game against the Hornets airing on SEC Network+.

For something as innocuous as a Player of the Week graphic I doubt it passes over many eyes before it goes out. Heck, maybe just one set - the person designing it. Sometimes when you're working on something and you get kind of buried in it, it's easy to gloss over even obvious mistakes.

The good news is Alabama is doing what they're supposed to be doing, winning these games and for the most part, in dominating fashion. We've been cursed some years with some unfortunate midweek results, so far this year, we're getting the job done. The strength of schedule may not be very strong but once conference play begins that obviously won't be a concern.

I saw an replica Nike Alabama Baseball jersey the other day when looking for some new gear. I feel like that is a rarity?

I maybe wrong as I don't look for Baseball gear.
