Awesome job by the guys!
Kind of wish Furtado would have gotten a few innings in this weekend to stay sharp, but with winning in 3 is fantastic! At this point, he probably doesn’t pitch unless we’re in the CWS finals or someone gets roughed up at Wake (which is possible given their bats).

Really glad this morning seeing the score even if it was so damn late I couldn’t watch it. Wake is a beast, but I feel with our pitching, we have a chance.

James Benedetto on Twitter:
BC head coach Mike Gambino:
“I know it's been a bit of a hectic couple weeks around here and for Jason (Jackson) and the staff to lead those boys and what those boys are doing. It’s hard in the ACC, we never like rooting for the SEC, but it’s hard not to root for those guys over there.”

You always have a realistic chance in baseball. Especially in a short series. Bad teams take 2 of 3 from great teams every year. Good teams taking 2 of 3 from a great team is pretty common.

Went to bed when we were up 6-0.
It was nice to wake up to an 8-0 victory.
It's going to be super fricking hard, but this team has the juice to beat Wake Forest.
Just have to play some fundamental baseball.

I don't want to discourage anyone, but I just looked up Wake's pitching and hitting stats. I didn't grab a screenshot of their hitting, but here is their pitching numbers on the season:
Jesus.
Jesus.

I know the ACC isn’t the SEC, but those top four numbers are insane
79ER in 309 innings. Yikes.

Look at their strikeout to walk ratios.

Apparently they have one starter hitting under .300

Staying up until 230 AM is a lot harder as an old man than it was 10 years ago. Sheesh.
Wake's extremely good. They're a deep lineup, they're old, they have an elite frontline starter and other solid ones and they have a very good bullpen. They're very much a legit #1 team in the tournament.
We're going to have to go in there, get good outings from our starters and grind out at-bats. Nothing to lose, can't wait.

Just to show how impressive Wake's entire staff has been this season......
Team ERA Leaders
1. Wake Forest (2.81)
2. Tennessee (3.63)
10. Alabama (4.03)
Their ERA is 0.8 pts lower than #2 Tennessee and 1.2 pts lower than us - and we're #10 in the country.

I got a new Atlanta area code number about 3-4 months ago (new phone carrier, they screwed up the # transfer, etc).
Spent the whole weekend watching live kids softball or Alabama baseball at 1 AM on tv

Will Alabama be allocated tickets for the super regional? I’ve got a family member close to Wake who wants me to try and buy him tickets if possible.

Yea but not many. Plus it's a pretty small park (3,823). I'd guess it barely even gets past family/administration.

What a fun yet absolutely exhausting weekend. Although the early 6-0 lead didn’t make me super relaxed it was not nearly as nerve wracking as the previous two nights. Two spontaneous storms in Tuscaloosa (and apparently only in Tuscaloosa) made for a steamy soggy night but a surprisingly large number of fans stuck around for the 9:36 start. Crowd got good and rowdy and the players seemed to love it. What a gutsy outing by Jacob McNairy in his final game at The Joe. And Hoopes getting to close out the game (after being credited with the win the night before). Seidl getting back in left field for these last two games. Could a Cinderella story be in the works for this group? So incredibly happy for this team. Go beat Wake!
Super Regional Bound – Alabama Shuts Out 24th-Ranked Boston College, 8-0
The Crimson Tide received a career start from Jacob McNairy in his last outing at The Joe
Alabama baseball posted an 8-0 shutout win over 24th-ranked Boston College just before dawn on Sunday into Monday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the victory, the Crimson Tide advances to NCAA Super Regional play and is now 43-19 on the season.
The Tide used a four-run first to put the game out of reach early. Alabama added single tallies in the second and third to go with a two-run eighth for the 8-0 victory. The early offense provided Jacob McNairy (7-2) with all the help he would need. In his final start at The Joe, the right-hander tossed 7.2 frames and allowed just three hits and three walks to go with a career-high 11 strikeouts for his team-high tying seventh victory. Hagan Banks and Hunter Hoopes combined for the final 1.1 innings to secure the shutout.
Alabama's offense accumulated a season-high 13 walks with eight of the nine starters drawing at least one base on balls. The offense was led at the plate by Mac Guscette who went 3-for-4 with a walk, one run and a team-high four RBI. Dominic Tamez also contributed a multi-hit night, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored. Ed Johnson paced UA in walks, drawing three to go with a 1-for-2 showing and one RBI.
From Interim Head Coach Jason Jackson
"What an awesome night for our baseball program, for our fanbase and for the players. I couldn't be prouder of everybody that's been involved and has worked hard to get to this point. We're not done yet, but I'm just so excited that we got to do this on our own field in front of our fans and move on to the next round."
