I would "save" Holman for the match against the winner of the 2/3 game. Furtado was lights out against Kentucky last week and Nicholls is nowhere near as talented as the Wildcats.

Agree 100%. Keeps them “on schedule” while starting the hot hand, puts your best pitcher against the best team, and if you can’t beat Nicholls with Furtado then you’re probably not winning the regional anyway.

That said, you would have to feel good that the moment won’t be “too big” for Furtado. Jacked crowd with season essentially on the line…the nerves can be a little shaky even if it is Nicholls as the opponent.

Nicholls apparently has a really good Friday night starter.

Jacob Mayers

He's 9-1 on the season with a 1.93 ERA.

Pretty egregious to put us at 16 or anywhere behind Auburn for that matter

Yup. You play smart and put your ace out there in order to stay in the winner's bracket. Cannot, cannot, cannot lose the first game. Start Holman 100%

That probably changes the calculus a bit. One dominant pitcher can cause havoc in the first game, so you probably have to match with your ace.

That said, if you lose with your ace on the mound things get even harder. Hopefully Furtado can provide depth in game 3 or if necessary, game 4.

Why did Campbell, as 14 seed, not host?

They were #14 in RPI and the only top 16 in RPI not to be chosen as a host. auburn needed their spot so their AD/selection committee chair saw to it.

The MOST important thing in a regional is to win your first two games. We have, in my opinion, three starters who have all performed well. You roll those guys out in order and see where things fall. I like our chances playing at home but it won’t be easy.

I know the All-Session tickets go on sale for $60 today, but will there be a way to buy just one ticket to the Friday night game?

So there’s no area in the outfield now where you can just bring a cooler and a chair?

Haven’t been to a game since field upgrade

I haven’t seen them address the cooler situation specifically but they are allowing folks into the right field area
